Hillsborough County is the most populous county in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. As of the 2020 census, the population was 422,937, almost one-third the population of the entire state. Its county seats are Manchester and Nashua, the state's two biggest cities. Hillsborough is northern New England's most populous county as well as its most densely populated.

John Steven Vaillancourt was an American politician, who served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. He represented Hillsborough County District 15, the city of Manchester Ward 8. He served from 1996 to 2014 and from 2016 until his death. He served as a member of the Democratic Party, the Libertarian Party, and later the Republican Party. Vaillancourt also served as Manchester alderman for Ward 8 from 1999 to 2001 while serving in the State House of Representatives.
Stacie-Marie Laughton is an American politician who served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2020 to 2022, representing District 31 in Hillsborough County. A member of the Democratic Party, she had previously been elected to the chamber in the 2012 elections to represent Ward 4 in Nashua, but resigned her position as Representative-elect due to the surfacing of a past criminal conviction. She was also a selectwoman in the ward.

David E. Cote is an American politician in the state of New Hampshire. He is a former member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, sitting as a Democrat from the Hillsborough 3 district, having been first elected in 1982 and serving until his resignation in 2023. Cote currently serves as house minority leader, and ranking member on the election law and redistricting committees. He previously chaired the election law and judiciary committees. As of early 2022, he had not cast a vote or attended a House session since March 11, 2020 due to COVID health concerns. On July 5, 2023, Cote resigned after the New Hampshire House refused to allow continued remote participation.
Peter Petrigno is an American politician, educator, and community organizer who is currently serving as a Democratic member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives for Hillsborough 43 - Milford. He was first elected in 2018.
Paul G. LaFlamme, Jr. is an American real estate agent and politician who served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2000 until 2004. A member of the Republican Party, LaFlamme represented part of Nashua. LaFlamme is also the president of Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps.
Beatrice Perin Barker Hall was an American politician from the state of New Hampshire. Hall served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for a total of 28 years, serving non-consecutively from 1970 until 2008.

In 2023, various special elections were held throughout the year in New Hampshire, mostly to the state's House of Representatives. At 400 members, the state house is the largest state legislative body in the United States, and the fourth largest lower house in the English-speaking world. As members are only paid $100 per year plus travel costs, turnover tends to be frequent, as members resign or die mid-term, resulting in a special election to replace them. According to the Constitution of the State of New Hampshire, if there is a vacancy in the New Hampshire General Court, a special election must be called to fill the vacant seat within 21 days of receiving proof of a vacancy or a request that a vacancy be filled.
Maria Perez is an El-Salvadoran born American politician who served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing the 43rd district which includes part of Hillsborough County First elected as a Democrat in 2020, Perez left the party to sit as an Independent in 2023, citing a lack of progress on issues and "feeling unwelcome in the party". Her party switch was met with mostly negative reactions from the Democratic Caucus, who cited the decision as "disappointing".
