Mark Lee (born August 2,1999),known mononymously as Mark,is a Canadian rapper,singer,songwriter and dancer based in South Korea. He is a member of the South Korean boy band NCT and its fixed sub-units NCT 127 and NCT Dream,as well as the South Korean supergroup SuperM.
In 2012,Mark joined SM Entertainment as a trainee after passing the SM Global Audition in Vancouver,Canada. On December 16,2013,he was introduced as a member of SM Rookies,a pre-debut team of trainees under SM Entertainment. [1] As a part of the SM Rookies program,in October 2014,he and several of his co-members appeared on the Mnet-produced Exo 90:2014 ,a show starring labelmates Exo –where they perform dances to K-pop songs from the 1990s. [2]
In 2015,Mark and other SM Rookies members starred as Mouseketeers in a Korean revival of The Mickey Mouse Club ,which aired on Disney Channel Korea. The show included musical performances,games,and skits,similar to the original American show. [3] It aired from July 23 to December 17,2015,hosted by Leeteuk of Super Junior. [4]
In April 2016,SM Entertainment confirmed that Mark and four other members of SM Rookies—Taeyong,Doyoung,Ten and Jaehyun—would debut as members of NCT's first sub-unit,NCT U. They released their first digital single on April 9,titled "The 7th Sense",in which he and Taeyong participated in songwriting. [5] Three months later,SM Entertainment announced that Mark would become a member of NCT's second sub-unit,NCT 127,along with Taeyong,Taeil,Yuta,Jaehyun,Winwin and Haechan. NCT 127 made their official debut with the extended play NCT #127 and title track "Fire Truck" on July 10,2016. [6]
Mark joined NCT's third sub-unit,NCT Dream,which consisted of members Renjun,Jeno,Haechan,Jaemin,Chenle and Jisung. The group officially debuted on August 24,2016,with the single "Chewing Gum". The following month,Mark featured on Henry Lau's "Going Through Your Heart",an original soundtrack for the KBS drama, Sweet Stranger and Me . [7] This marked his first solo endeavour since his debut in NCT.
In January 2017,Mark joined High School Rapper ,a survival hip hop reality TV show that aired on Mnet. [8] He advanced to the finals and performed an original song,"Drop" featuring labelmate Seulgi of Red Velvet,and placed seventh overall. [9] In July 2017,Mark collaborated with Exo's Xiumin on single "Young &Free". It was released through Season 2 of SM Entertainment's digital music project SM Station. [10] The same month,Mark appeared in the first season of the music variety show Snowball Project. He teamed up with Parc Jae-jung to release "Lemonade Love" on July 21,also through SM Station,which was produced by former labelmate Henry Lau and Yoon Jong-shin. [11]
Beginning in February 2018,Mark served as one of the main hosts of the music program Show! Music Core ,leaving in January 2019 to focus on his activities with NCT 127. [12] In May 2018,he became a regular cast member on the MBC reality TV show It's Dangerous Beyond The Blankets . [13] In October 2018,Mark released the song "Dream Me" with Red Velvet's Joy for the soundtrack of the KBS drama The Ghost Detective. Mark was the first member to officially graduate from NCT Dream on December 31,2018. [14]
On August 7,2019,Mark was confirmed as a member of SuperM –a supergroup created by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records. The group began promoting in October of that year in the American music market. [15] [16] SuperM's self-titled debut EP was released on October 4,2019,led by the single "Jopping". [17] Mark continued to promote with SuperM throughout 2020,through the release the group's first studio album, Super One . On April 14,SM Entertainment announced through an official statement that Mark would be rejoining NCT Dream,thus abolishing their original age-based graduation system. [18] [19] [20] His return was affirmed through his participation in the NCT Dream song "DéjàVu" on the group-wide studio album NCT 2020 Resonance . [21]
On January 28,2022,it was announced that Mark would release his first single,"Child". Specifically,it was set to be released on February 4,as part of NCT Lab . [22] "Child",described as an emotional hip-hop track,was commended for its lyrics. [23]
On March 30,2023,it was announced that Mark would release his new solo song and second single,"Golden Hour",on April 7,as part of NCT Lab. [24] "Golden Hour" described as a hip-hop genre song that combines impactful guitar and drum sounds and flashy rapping and also a self-produced song that based of his bad review from chef Gordon Ramsay for the fried eggs he made in the past. [25]
On May 16,2024,Mark announced the start of his solo album,set to be released in February 2025,with a digital single titled "200." The new song "200" is a drum &bass track based on rock sounds,featuring a captivating blend of early 2000s electric guitar sounds and lyrical melodies. The lyrics convey the meaning of love,describing how two people make each other shine brighter and how their relationship becomes more perfect when they are together. [26]
On December 11,2024,it was confirmed that Mark would release his new single,"Fraktsiya",featuring Lee Young-ji,along with a music video. The single "Fraktsiya" is a hip-hop track defined by its powerful 808 bass and highly repetitive synthesizer sounds over a house-style chord progression. 'Fraktsiya,' which means 'spy' in Russian,is referenced in the lyrics to describe Mark and Lee Young-ji's experiences navigating between K-pop and hip-hop. The comparison highlights their ability to move between the two genres like 'spies,' showcasing their confidence and skill in delivering impressive performances across both fields [27] .[1] Subsequently,the release of his solo album,originally scheduled for February 2025,was postponed to April 2025,with SM Entertainment stating that the delay was to 'ensure better quality. [28]
In 2022,Polo Ralph Lauren selected Mark as the Korean ambassador of the brand. [29]
In 2025,Mark was selected as ambassador of cosmetic brand Espoir. [30]
In February 2023,Mark donated ₩150 million to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to help victims of the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake [31] and ₩10 million to the Community Chest of Korea along with Genie Music. [32]

NCT U is the first sub-unit from the South Korean boy band NCT. They debuted on April 9, 2016, with the double digital single "The 7th Sense" and "Without You" under the label SM Entertainment. The member line of NCT U is rotational, changing with each release and concept. The group's original members were Taeyong, Ten, Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Mark. NCT U is most known for their experimental nature, with their singles inspired by various genres such as trap and electro pop.
NCT 127 is the first fixed and second overall sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT, formed and managed by SM Entertainment. They originally debuted on July 7, 2016, with their debut extended play NCT#127, with an original lineup of seven members: Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, and Haechan. Doyoung and Johnny joined the unit in December 2016, ahead of their second EP Limitless, while Jungwoo, the final member, was introduced in September 2018 ahead of their first studio album Regular-Irregular. They are known for their experimental hip hop-based music, which they refer to as "neo music", as well as their vocal and rap abilities, choreographies, and performances.
Limitless is the second EP by NCT 127, the Seoul based sub-unit of South Korean boy band NCT. It marked their first album as a nine-member group, since the addition of Doyoung and Johnny in 2016. It was released on January 6, 2017 digitally and physically on January 9, by SM Entertainment.
The discography of the South Korean boy group NCT consists of four studio albums and thirteen singles. The multi-national boy group was formed by SM Entertainment in 2016 and comprises multiple sub-units that occasionally reunite to release new music as NCT and NCT U. In 2018, the group released their first studio album, NCT 2018 Empathy, which peaked at number two on South Korea's Circle Album Chart and received a 2× platinum certification, awarded by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA). Their next album, NCT 2020 Resonance, was released in two parts, which topped the Circle Album Chart, earning NCT their first number-one in the country. Both parts sold over 1.5 million copies and were certified Million by the KMCA. The album became NCT's first entry on national charts in Canada, Hungary, the Flanders and the United States. One of its lead singles, "Make a Wish", reached number 14 on the Circle Digital Chart, becoming NCT's first top 15 hit in South Korea, and peaked at number 126 the Billboard 200, becoming NCT's first song to enter the chart. In 2021, the group released Universe, which became their third number-one album in South Korea and first number-one album in Japan. NCT released their fourth studio album, Golden Age, in 2023.
NCT Dream is the third sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT, formed by SM Entertainment in 2016. They were initially intended to be the teenaged unit of NCT with an admission-and-graduation system, in which members would leave after reaching age of majority, prior to re-branding in 2020. The sub-unit debuted on August 25, 2016, with the single "Chewing Gum" and a lineup of seven members—Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung—whose average age was 15.6 years old. In late 2018, the group's leader, Mark, graduated from NCT Dream but returned in 2020 when the group began promoting as a fixed seven-member group.
Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul, known professionally as Ten, is a Thai singer, dancer, and rapper based in South Korea and China. He debuted with South Korean boy band NCT in 2016 as part of its first sub-unit, NCT U. Since 2019, he has been active mainly as a member of NCT's China-based unit WayV and the South Korean supergroup SuperM. Ten has also released several solo singles through the SM Station project: "Dream in a Dream" (2017), "New Heroes" (2018), "Paint Me Naked" (2021), and "Birthday" (2022). He made his solo debut in February 2024 with his eponymous extended play.
Cherry Bomb is the third extended play by NCT 127, the Seoul-based sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. It was released by SM Entertainment on June 14, 2017, and distributed by Genie Music. The EP includes a total of seven tracks.
"Young & Free" is a single recorded by South Korean singer Xiumin and Canadian rapper Mark, members of K-pop groups EXO and NCT respectively. It was released by S.M. Entertainment and distributed by Genie Music on July 7, 2017 through their digital music project SM Station.
NCT 2018 Empathy is the debut studio album by South Korean Boy band NCT, an unlimited group project under the management of SM Entertainment. Containing a total of fourteen tracks with twelve of which were released as singles from 2016 to 2018, the album marked the first group release with eighteen members from three different units participating at the time, while being the first release to officially introduce three new members Kun, Jungwoo and Lucas. With the group's label founder Lee Soo-man serving as the executive producer, composition and production for the album was contributed by Matt Schwartz, Tommy $trate, The Stereotypes, Timothy 'Bos' Bullock, Deez, Yoo Young-jin, Ryan S. Jhun, MZMC, Adrian McKinnon, Shin Hyuk, Josh Cumbee, Andrew Choi, Sara Forsberg, LDN Noise, and others. It was released on March 14, 2018, by SM Entertainment and iriver Inc along with the album's fourth single "Touch" by the Seoul-based unit NCT 127 and "Black on Black", the first single featuring all eighteen members of the group at that time.
"Touch" is a song recorded by the South Korean, Seoul-based unit NCT 127 for their parental unlimited boy band NCT's first studio album NCT 2018 Empathy (2018). Co-produced by production team LDN Noise, Deez and Adrian McKinnon with lyrics from Jo Yoon-kyung, Kim Min-ji and Shin Jin-hye, the '90s-imbued tropical house track was released digitally on March 14, 2018, as the fourth single from Empathy by SM Entertainment with iRIVER Inc as the distributor. An accompanying music video was premiered a day prior to both the single and the album's scheduled digital release. The song was later re-recorded and released as the first single from the unit's first Japanese studio album Awaken (2019) on September 16, 2018 by Avex Trax.
We Go Up is the second extended play by South Korean–Chinese boy band NCT Dream, the third and teen-aged sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. Released by SM Entertainment on September 3, 2018 and distributed by iriver, the album contains five new Korean songs and a Mandarin version of the album's eponymous single, marking it their latest release to contain a Mandarin record. The extended play was the unit's first major release to feature member Jaemin since their debut single "Chewing Gum" in August 2016; following his medical hiatus since early 2017. SM founder Lee Soo-man served as the EP's executive producer, with songwriters and producers such as Kenzie, MZMC, Bazzi, Mike Woods, Kevin White, August Rigo, The Stereotypes, Deez, Erik Lidbom, Cazzi Opeia, Anton Ewald, Simon Johansson, Sebastian Thott, and others participating in making the album. South Korean boy band NCT 127 have released six studio albums, four reissues, three live albums, one single album, seven extended plays, and nineteen singles. To date, NCT 127 have earned ten number-one albums and two number-one singles in South Korea.
We Boom is the third extended play of South Korean–Chinese boy band NCT Dream, the third and teen-aged sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. Released by SM Entertainment and Dreamus digitally on July 26, 2019, and later physically three days later, the EP consists of six tracks, and is the first release of the unit to not contain any Mandarin version for the lead single. SM founder Lee Soo-man continued as the release's executive producer, while several songwriters and producers, such as Ryan S. Jhun, Yoo Young-jin, Sonny J Mason, Deez, Moonshine, Cazzi Opeia, Benjamin Ingrosso, Livvi Franc, Louis Schoorl, Bobii Lewis, Jamil `Digi` Christmas, MZMC, and others, contributed both lyrics and production to the extended play. It was the unit's first major release as a sextet, following the graduation of member Mark in December 2018.
SuperM is a South Korean supergroup formed in 2019 by SM Entertainment and Capitol Music Group. The group consists of seven members from four SM Entertainment boy bands: Taemin from Shinee, Baekhyun and Kai from Exo, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, Ten from WayV, and Lucas, who is a former NCT and WayV member. The group debuted on October 4, 2019, with their self-titled EP, which entered the US Billboard 200 at number one, making SuperM the first Asian artist in history to top the chart with a debut release. Their debut single, "Jopping", was among Billboard's Critics' Picks for the "25 Best K-pop Songs" of 2019.
Lee Tae-yong, known mononymously as Taeyong, is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and dancer. He is a member and leader of South Korean boy band NCT under SM Entertainment, having debuted in the group's first sub-unit, NCT U, in 2016 and becoming the leader of its second sub-unit, NCT 127, later that year. In 2019, he debuted as a member of the South Korean supergroup SuperM, a joint project under SM Entertainment and Capitol Records. As a songwriter, Taeyong has participated in writing over 40 songs in four languages, released mostly by NCT's various units and himself as a soloist. He made his official solo debut in June 2023 with his EP Shalala, making him the first soloist from NCT.
"Cherry Bomb" is a song recorded by South Korean boy band NCT 127, the Seoul-based unit of boy group NCT, for their third eponymous extended play (2017) under SM Entertainment. Lee Je-no, known professionally as Jeno, is a South Korean rapper, singer and dancer. Jeno began his career as a child commercial model. He was discovered by SM Entertainment at the age of thirteen. Moon Tae-il, known mononymously as Taeil, is a South Korean singer. He is a former member of the South Korean boy band NCT and its sub-units NCT U and NCT 127, managed by the label SM Entertainment. Taeil made his debut in April 2016 in the rotational unit NCT U and became a member of the Seoul-based unit NCT 127 in July 2016. He departed from NCT on August 28, 2024, following allegations of sexual offenses, later revealed to be quasi-rape.
