Marklund Motorsport, also competed under the title Volkswagen Marklund Motorsport, is an auto racing team. The team has been competing in rallycross since its creation, and has recently been backed by Volkswagen. For 2016 the team merged with Kristoffersson Motorsport to create Volkswagen RX Sweden , before stepping back to the European circuit following the fallout from the Volkswagen emissions scandal.

Daniel Johannes Abt is a German former racing driver. He has competed in such series as the German Formula Three Championship, the GP3 Series, the GP2 Series, and won the 2009 ADAC Formel Masters championship. He competed in the first four rounds of the 2019–20 Formula E season with ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport, however he was dismissed from the team after being found to be using a ringer driver in the sport's subsequent virtual races. Kristoffersson Motorsport is a Swedish auto racing team owned by racing driver Tommy Kristoffersson. It currently competes in the FIA World Rallycross Championship and Swedish Touring Car Championship, with Tommy's son Johan Kristoffersson as one of the drivers. The 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup was the inaugural season of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). It took over from the World Touring Car Championship and adopted the TCR technical regulations. It was also the 14th overall season of the series that dates from the 2005 World Touring Car Championship.
