Mary Pauline Stewart (born December 8, 1945), also known by her married name Mary Stewart McIlwaine, is a Canadian former competitive swimmer.
Stewart twice broke the world record in the women's 100-metre butterfly in the early 1960s. Stewart also competed in freestyle events as a member of the Canadian national team in major international championships.
As a 14-year-old, she represented Canada in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where she finished eighth in the women's 100-metre freestyle, and also competed in the preliminary hears of the women's 4x100-metre medley relay event. Two years later at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in Perth, Western Australia, she won the gold medal in the women's 100-metre butterfly. At the 1963 Pan American Games in São Paulo, Brazil, Stewart enjoyed a four-medal performance, garnering silver medals for her second-place performances in the 100-metre freestyle, 100-metre butterfly, 4x100-metre freestyle relay, and the 4x100-metre medley relay.
Despite being of Canadian nationality, she won the ASA National British Championships over 110 yards butterfly 1963. [1]
In her final international appearance at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she finished eighth in the 100-metre butterfly, and also competed as a member of the Canadian teams in the 4x100-metre freestyle and 4x100-metre medley relay events.
She is the sister of Helen Stewart.

While attending the University of California, Berkeley, she became the first woman ever to swim the 100-meter backstroke in less than one minute—ten days before her 20th birthday in 2002. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, she became the first U.S. female athlete in modern Olympic history to win six medals in one Olympiad, and the first woman ever to win a 100-meter backstroke gold in two consecutive Olympics. Dana Whitney Vollmer is a former American competition swimmer, five-time Olympic gold medalist, and former world record-holder. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, she won a gold medal as a member of the winning United States team in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay that set the world record in the event. Eight years later at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Vollmer set the world record on her way to the gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly, and also won golds in the 4×100-meter medley relay and 4×200-meter freestyle relay. She won three medals including a gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Katerine Savard is a Canadian competitive swimmer who specializes in women's butterfly events and freestyle relay. She holds several Canadian national records in the butterfly over the 50-, 100-, and 200-metre distances in both the short and long courses. Savard also holds the Canadian junior butterfly record in the 200-metre event. She won the gold medal at the Summer Universiade in the 100-metre butterfly in 2012, while also garnering a medal in the 50-metre butterfly at the 2013 Universiade. Savard won gold at the Commonwealth Games in the 100-metre butterfly in Glasgow, where she set the Commonwealth record in the process. At the same games she also won a bronze as a member of the women's 4×100-metre medley relay team.
Pernille Blume is a former Danish swimmer specializing in sprint freestyle events. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2016 Summer Olympics she was the gold medalist in the women's 50 metre freestyle and won a bronze medal in the women's 4 × 100 metre medley relay where she swam the freestyle leg of the relay in both the prelims and the final. She also competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the 50 metre freestyle.
Emma Jennifer McKeon, is an Australian competitive swimmer. She is a four-time world record holder, one current and three former, in the 4x100 metre freestyle relay. Her total career haul of 11 Olympic medals following the 2020 Olympic Games made her Australia's most decorated Olympian and included one gold medal from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and four gold medals from the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. With four gold and three bronze medals she was the most decorated athlete across all sports at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and tied for the most medals won by a woman in a single Olympic Games. Penelope Oleksiak is a Canadian competitive swimmer. Her country's most decorated Olympian, Oleksiak rose to fame during the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she became the first Canadian to win four medals in the same Summer Games, and the country's youngest Olympic champion with her gold medal win in the 100 m freestyle. She was the first athlete born in the 2000s to claim an Olympic gold medal in an individual event. Her success led to her being awarded the 2016 Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada's top athlete, the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as Canada's top female athlete for 2016, and a member of the Canadian Press team of the year. She also won the World (LC) title in 2019. Mac Neil is the current Americas record holder in the women's 100 metre butterfly event (55.59s), as well as the world record holder in the short course 50 metre backstroke.
Lisa Höpink is a German swimmer, who competed in the 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay and 4 × 100 metre medley relay events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She won two medals at the 2019 Summer Universiade, and three medals at the 2014 European Junior Swimming Championships.
Katherine Cadwallader Douglass is an American swimmer who is currently on the USA National Team. In 2021 she placed second in the 200m meter individual medley at the 2020 Olympic Swimming Trials, qualifying for the US Olympic Team. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, she won a bronze medal in the same event. She is currently a junior at University of Virginia where she competes at the collegiate level, and is an eight-time NCAA champion. In addition, she also holds the American record in the women's 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard butterfly, and 200 yard breaststroke. At the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Douglass became the first swimmer to win three individual titles in three different strokes.
