The McLaren Artura is a hybrid electric sports car designed and manufactured by the British car manufacturer McLaren Automotive since 2022. It is the second hybrid by the company since the P1 and the first with a V6 engine.
The name Artura was announced on 23 November 2020. It is a combination of the words art and future. It inaugurates a new carbon fibre chassis called MCLA (McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture). [2]
The Artura uses an all-new 2,993 cm3 (3.0 L; 182.6 cu in) twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with an electric motor to produce a combined output of 500 kW (680 PS; 671 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 720 N⋅m (531 lb⋅ft) of torque at 2,250 rpm. On its own, the engine produces 430 kW (585 PS; 577 hp) and 584 N⋅m (431 lb⋅ft) of torque. The all-aluminium engine has a bank angle of 120 degrees, a world first for a production V6 engine. This is to accommodate a hot-vee layout, where the two turbochargers are placed in the vee of the engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an all-new 8 speed dual-clutch transmission. Redline is at 8,500 rpm. [3] [4]
The electric motor used in the Artura produces 70 kW (95 PS) and 225 N⋅m (166 ft⋅lb) of torque. The combined torque peak is less than the sum of both sides as the output is limited to "optimize powertrain drivability characteristics". The 7.4 kilowatt-hours (27 MJ) lithium-ion battery pack weighs 88 kg (194 lb) and is positioned under the rear of the passenger compartment. McLaren claims a 2.5-hour time for an 80 percent charge using an EVSE cable and a 31 km (19 mi) electric range under European testing methodology. This motor replaces the reverse gear, similar to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. The total mass of all electrical components is 130 kg (287 lb), which means that the Artura has a kerb weight only 46 kg (102 lb) more than that of its predecessor, the McLaren 570S. [3] The Artura has a range of 30.6 km (19 mi) on electric-only mode. [2]
According to McLaren, the Artura can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.3 seconds, can achieve a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph), and has a 1⁄4 mile (402 m) time of 10.7 seconds. [5]
The Artura appeared prominently on the sixth episode of the third season of the Netflix-produced series Emily in Paris. [6] [7]
The Artura was advertised on the McLaren MCL35M and MCL36 during the 2021 and 2022 Formula One seasons. [8] [9]
In June 2022, McLaren unveiled the Artura GT4, the successor to the McLaren 570S GT4 in the GT4 category. The car features the same twin-turbocharged V6 engine as the road car, but without a hybrid system as this is not permitted by the GT4 regulations. [10] The car made its racing debut in the 2023 Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona.
Alongside the GT4 version of the Artura, McLaren also released the McLaren Artura Trophy. This is an unrestricted version of the GT4 car, created for the McLaren Trophy. The McLaren Trophy is a one-make McLaren racing series that started in 2023. Owners of the Trophy car can also swap the Aero, adjust the engine management and add balast to race their car in GT4 competition. [11]
The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by the German company Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle. The first generation was known internally within Porsche as the Type 9PA (955/957) or E1. It was the first V8-engined vehicle built by Porsche since 1995, when the Porsche 928 was discontinued. It is also Porsche's first off-road variant vehicle since its Super and Junior tractors of the 1950s, and the first Porsche with four doors. Since 2014, the Cayenne has been sold alongside a smaller Porsche SUV, the Macan.
McLaren Automotive is a British luxury automotive manufacturer based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. The main products of the company are sports cars, which are produced in-house in designated production facilities. In July 2017, McLaren Automotive became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the wider McLaren Group.

LaFerrari, project name F150, is a limited production mid-engine, mild hybrid sports car built by Italian automotive manufacturer Ferrari. LaFerrari means "The Ferrari" in Italian; this is intended to be the definitive Ferrari.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is a sports car manufactured by German marque Porsche. The 918 Spyder is a plug-in hybrid powered by a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 4.6 L (4,593 cc) V8 engine, developing 447 kW at 8,700 RPM, with two electric motors delivering an additional 210 kW for a combined output of 652 kW (875 hp) and 1,280 N⋅m (944 lbf⋅ft) of torque. The 918 Spyder's 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack delivers an all-electric range of 19 km (12 mi) under the US Environmental Protection Agency's five-cycle tests.
The McLaren P1 is a sports car produced by British marque McLaren Automotive. It is a plug-in hybrid with a mid-engine layout. It was first shown at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with sales of the P1 beginning in the United Kingdom in October 2013 and all of the limited run of 375 units sold by November 2013. Production ended in early December 2015. The United States accounted for 34% of the units and Europe for 26%.

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth-generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Sold from 2016, it is the successor to the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The Ferrari 296 is a sports car built since 2022 by the Italian company Ferrari. The 296 is a two-seater, offered as a GTB coupé, and a GTS folding hard-top convertible. It is a plug-in hybrid with a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and its power train combines a twin-turbocharged 120-degree block-angle V6 with an electric drive fitted in between the engine and gearbox. The 296 can be driven in electric-only mode for short distances, to comply with use in urban zero-emission zones.
The McLaren M630 engine is a 3.0-litre, 120-degree, twin-turbocharged V6 engine, designed and developed for use in the Artura sportscar by McLaren Automotive.
The Mercedes V6 Hybrid Formula Oneengine, is a series of 1.6-liter, hybrid turbocharged V6 racing engines which features both a kinetic energy recovery system (MGU-K) and a heat energy recovery system (MGU-H), developed and produced by Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains for use in Formula One. The engines were in use since the 2014 season by the Mercedes works team. Over years of development, engine power was increased from 840 horsepower at 15,000 rpm, to 1,070 horsepower at 15,000 rpm. Customer team engines were used by Williams, McLaren, Lotus, Manor Racing, Force India, Racing Point Force India, Racing Point and Aston Martin.
