Television in Poland was introduced on an experimental basis in 1937. It was state owned, and was interrupted by the Second World War in 1939. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. Private television stations in Poland appeared around the time of the fall of communism, with PTV Echo becoming the first private station in Poland.

Małgorzata Foremniak and Agnieszka Chylińska returned as judges. They were joined by a new judge, Robert Kozyra. Based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, the series was created by Dutch television producer John de Mol. It is part of an international series. The series was won by Damian Ukeje, he was coached by judge Nergal.
Kuchenne rewolucje is a Polish reality television series broadcast on the TVN, in which Chef Magda Gessler is invited by the owners to spend 4 days with a failing restaurant in an attempt to revive the business. It is the Polish version of British Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
The fifth series of Mam talent! began airing on TVN on 1 September 2012 and ended on 24 November 2012. All three judges from the previous series: Agnieszka Chylińska, Małgorzata Foremniak and Robert Kozyra returned to judge the contestants. Marcin Prokop and Szymon Hołownia present the show again. The series was won by acrobatic duo Delfina & Bartek, with dancing duo Pitzo & Polssky coming second. Acrobat Anna Filipowska came third.
MasterChef is a Polish television series based on a British television cooking game show under the same title. It premiered on TVN on 2 September 2012. The show is hosted by Magda Gessler, who also hosts a Polish version of Kitchen Nightmares on the same channel. She also serves as the head judge and is joined on the panel by Michel Moran and Anna Starmach. It was broadcast on Sundays; seasons 1–3 were at 8 p.m., while season 4 was at 9:30 p.m.
The sixth series of Mam talent! began airing on TVN on 7 September 2013 and ended on 30 November 2013. Marcin Prokop and Szymon Hołownia returned to present the show. Agnieszka Chylińska and Małgorzata Foremniak returned as judges and were joined by Agustin Egurrola. The series was won by Ukrainian sand artist Tetiana Galitsyna, who received PLN 300,000. The runner-up, folk music band Tekla Klebetnica received the second prize, a car funded by sponsor of the series. Dancer Santiago Gil came third.
The seventh series of Mam talent! began airing on TVN on 6 September 2014. The judges' auditions began on 9 June 2014 in Katowice and ended on 8 July in Warsaw.

The judging panel was extended by winner of the first season Maciej Florek and finalist of the same season Ida Nowakowska, who joined original judges Agustin Egurrola and Michał Piróg. Kinga Rusin didn't return as judge due to her commitments as host of an upcoming series Agent - Gwiazdy, a celebrity version of The Mole on TVN. Patricia Kazadi remains the host of the series.

The Convict is a Polish crime drama series created by Ewa Ornacka and based on her book Skazane na potępienie. The series stars Agata Kulesza as a successful judge Alicja Mazur from Katowice, who is accused of a murder she did not commit. In prison, Mazur tries to survive among the women she previously sent to prison.
