Merge Tactics is a game mode in Clash Royale, developed and published by Supercell. Introduced in July 2025, it blends auto-battler mechanics with troop-merging strategy within the existing Clash Royale game app. [1]
Merge Tactics is a four-player free-for-all mode in which players compete in rounds until only one player remains. The mode becomes available to players who reach Arena 3 and is presented as a distinct seasonal mode with its own rewards track.

Troops in Merge Tactics are adaptations of existing Clash Royale cards with adjusted costs and stats for the mode. Modifiers decide how each match will progress using some kind of reward/rule for the players. Troops have traits which can create synergies when multiple different units with the same trait are played. Rulers are match-wide champions that bestow passive bonuses or abilities. [2]
Merge Tactics runs on a seasonal schedule aligned with Clash Royale seasons. Progression is tracked separately with a rewards track (Starsteel/seasonal road) offering cosmetic items, new Rulers, and other season-exclusive rewards.
Since launch, the mode has received patches to adjust traits, troop stats, and Ruler abilities to improve balance and refresh the meta. New troops and traits have been periodically introduced.
Reception has been mixed to positive. Players praised the strategic depth introduced by merging and trait synergies, while some criticized perceived luck in unit offerings and occasional balance/performance issues.
