Messestadt-West is a Munich U-Bahn station on line U2.

Overview

The station was opened on 29 May 1999 and is situated in the Messestadt Riem of which he covers the western part. It is situated below the Willy-Brandt-Allee. There are 9 light domes in the middle of the road. The walls and the ceiling are made of light red colored concrete. The station is illuminated by 2 rows of neon tubes, the light domes and by the mezzanine. The floor is covered by granite slabs and thus reflects the light. At the northern mezzanine there is the Messesee. The western entrance of the Messe München is accessible from here. At the southern end of the station there is also a mezzanine. From here you can get to the Willy-Brandt-Allee. The codenames of the station were Riem West and Neu-Riem West.

The Stammstrecke 2 of the Munich U-Bahn is one of three main routes in the subway network of the Bavarian capital Munich. Since 12 December 2011, the U7 line runs during high traffic times and since 15 December 2013 the U8 line assists on Saturdays. The U1 and U2 lines only run together on one route, in the central inner city area, before and after that, they are branched away from each other. The Willy-Brandt-Platz is a central square in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany. Its name was Theaterplatz until 1992, when it was named after Willy Brandt, the former chancellor. It is located between the Main Station and the Altstadt, at the Frankfurter Anlagenring, and is part of the so-called Bankenviertel. Major buildings are the Städtisches Opern- und Schauspielhaus, the municipal theatre that opened in 1963, and the Eurotower skyscraper. Below the square are the U-Bahnhof Willy-Brandt-Platz and the Theatertunnel street tunnel.
