Somerset County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Somerset. Founded in 1875,Somerset was initially regarded as a minor county until official first-class status was acquired in 1895. Somerset has competed in the County Championship since 1891 and has subsequently played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club's limited overs team was formerly named the Somerset Sabres,but is now known only as Somerset.

Michael John Lumb is a former South African-born English cricketer,who played for Yorkshire,Hampshire,and Nottinghamshire at county level and England in Twenty20 International cricket and One Day International cricket. Born and raised in South Africa,Lumb is a left-handed opening batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. He became only the second cricketer after Dennis Amiss to score a century on ODI debut for England and ninth player overall to do so. Lumb was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.

Born and raised in South Africa,Kieswetter moved to England to complete his education,and began playing county cricket for Somerset in 2007. Three years later,he made his international debut in a One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh. A wicket-keeper batsman,he was considered a one-day specialist,and all his international appearances came in ODIs or Twenty20 Internationals.
Gareth David Cross is an English cricketer who plays as a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who occasionally bowls right arm medium-fast. He played for Lancashire from 2005 until his release in 2013,and the following year signed for Derbyshire. In 2015 he returned to Clifton as professional having earlier come through their junior ranks.

In domestic cricket he represents Lancashire,having previously played for Somerset,and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues,including for Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Buttler is known for his highly innovative and aggressive batting style,especially in limited over cricket. He was part of the England team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Under his captaincy England won the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup.

Reece James William Topley is an English international cricketer who plays for the England cricket team in white ball cricket as a left-arm fast medium bowler. He plays for Surrey in domestic cricket. Topley debuted for England in August 2015 against Australia,and represented the team at both the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 and 2023 Cricket World Cup. The 2011 season saw Somerset County Cricket Club competing in three domestic competitions;the first division of the County Championship in which despite being within a shout of winning the Championship with two games to go a lack of consistency cost them and they finished 4th,and reached the finals of both one day domestic competitions the Clydesdale Bank 40 and the Friends Life t20. While in international competitions they failed to make it past the group stage in the Caribbean Twenty20 but impressed in the Champions League Twenty20 reaching the semi-finals.

In 2016,Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division Two of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest t20 Blast. The season was the fifth,and last,in charge for head coach Jimmy Adams and the first for new club captain Sam Northeast,who took over from Robert Key at the end of the 2015 season,having captained the side on the field for much of the season.
In 2017,Hampshire County Cricket Club will compete in Division One of the County Championship,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the NatWest t20 Blast.
The 2010 Twenty20 Cup Final,known for sponsorship purposes as the 2010 Friends Provident t20 Final,was a 20 overs-per-side cricket match between Hampshire County Cricket Club and Somerset County Cricket Club played on 14 August 2010 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. It was the eighth final of the Twenty20 Cup.
In 2019 Kent County Cricket Club competed in Division One of the County Championship after gaining promotion in the 2018 season,the Royal London One-Day Cup and the 2019 t20 Blast.
Shoaib Bashir is an English cricketer who plays for Somerset and England. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. He made his first-class debut for Somerset against Essex on 11 June 2023. He made his T20 Blast debut for Somerset against Hampshire on 7 June 2023.He made his international test debut against India on 2 Feb 2024.
