Michael Matt (born 13 May 1993) is an Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer. He specialises in the Slalom discipline and has competed in three World Championships.
Matt made his World Cup debut at age 20 in the Levi slalom in November 2013, racing alongside his brother Mario. [1] He competed at the 2015 World Championships in Beaver Creek, US. Matt raced in the slalom, but failed to finish the second run. [2] Matt gained his first World Cup podium in Finland as the runner-up at Levi on 13 November 2016, [3] and celebrated his first victory on 5 March 2017 in Slovenia at Kranjska Gora. [4]
At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongchang, South Korea, Matt finished the first run of the slalom competition in 12th place but moved up to third after the second run, securing himself the bronze medal. [5] He was also part of the Austrian squad which took a silver medal in the team event. [6]
Matt is the brother of double World and Olympic champion Mario Matt and ski cross world champion Andreas Matt. [7] In 2001, at the age of eight, Michael Matt was buried by an avalanche. [8]

Hannelore (Hanni) Wenzel is a retired Liechtensteiner alpine ski racer. Weirather is a former Olympic, World Cup, and world champion. She won Liechtenstein's first-ever Olympic medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, and its first two Olympic gold medals four years later in Lake Placid, New York.
Marlies Raich is a retired Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer. She specializes in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom. Marcel Hirscher is an Austrian former World Cup alpine ski racer. Hirscher made his World Cup debut in March 2007. He competed primarily in slalom and giant slalom, as well as combined and occasionally in super G. Winner of a record eight consecutive World Cup titles, Hirscher has also won 11 medals at the Alpine Skiing World Championships, seven of them gold, a silver medal in slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics, and two gold medals in the combined and giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Due to his record number of overall titles and many years of extreme dominance of both slalom and giant slalom, he is considered by many, including his former rivals Henrik Kristoffersen, Kjetil Jansrud and Alexis Pinturault, to be the best alpine skier in history. David Ryding is an English World Cup alpine ski racer who specialises in slalom. Widely considered to be the greatest British skier of all time, he has competed for Great Britain in four Olympics, seven World Championships, and won the Europa Cup. Ryding's best World Cup result was a victory in 2022 Kitzbühel slalom, the first victory for any British athlete at that level in Alpine skiing.
Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin is an American World Cup alpine skier who has the most World Cup wins of any alpine skier in history and is considered one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time. She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist. She is a five-time Overall World Cup champion, a four-time world champion in slalom and a seven-time winner of the World Cup discipline title in that event. Shiffrin is the youngest slalom champion in Olympic alpine skiing history, at 18 years and 345 days.
