Mikeius is a genus of wasps found in Australia. Species of Mikeius are thought to be associated with hosts that induce galls on Acacia and Eucalyptus species. [1]

The genus and six species were first described in 2008. [1] In 2011, several alterations were made to the taxonomy of Mikeius. One new species, M. clavatus, was described, and a new subfamily, Mikeiinae, was erected from Thrasorinae. [2] M. neumanni was transferred to the new genus Cicatrix and M. schauffi was transferred to the new genus Palmiriella . [2]

Diplolepis (wasp) Genus of wasps

Diplolepis is a genus of approximately fifty species in the gall wasp family Cynipidae. The larvae induce galls on wild roses (Rosa), and rarely on domestic roses.

Cicatrix is a genus of wasp found in Australia. It was erected in 2011 following a revision of Mikeius.

Figitidae Family of wasps

Figitidae is a family of parasitoid wasps. The full diversity of this wasp family is not yet known, but about 1400 species have been described to over 130 genera. For example, the largest subfamily, Eucoilinae, has over 1000 described species so far, but this is probably just a fraction of the total diversity. Figitid species occur throughout most of the world.

Preseucoela imallshookupis is a species of gall wasp. The genus name, Preseucoela, is named after Elvis Presley while the species name is derived from the Elvis Presley song "All Shook Up". This particular species is known to attack oak trees or rose plants.

Andricus Genus of wasps

Andricus is a genus of gall wasps in the family Cynipidae, tribe Cynipini.

Cynipini Tribe of wasps

Cynipini is a tribe of gall wasps. These insects induce galls in plants of the beech and oak family, Fagaceae. They are known commonly as the oak gall wasps. It is the largest cynipid tribe, with about 936 to 1000 recognized species, most of which are associated with oaks. The tribe is mainly native to the Holarctic. Cynipini wasps can act as ecosystem engineers. Their galls can become hosts of inquilines, and the wasps themselves are hosts to parasitoids.

Coffeikokkos is a genus of gall wasp.

Archimyrmex Extinct genus of ants

Archimyrmex is an extinct genus of ant in the formicid subfamily Myrmeciinae, described by palaeoentomologist Theodore Cockerell in 1923. The genus contains four described species, Archimyrmex rostratus, Archimyrmex piatnitzkyi, Archimyrmex smekali and Archimyrmex wedmannae. Archimyrmex is known from a group of Middle Eocene fossils which were found in North America, South America, and Europe. The genus was initially placed in the subfamily Ponerinae, but it was later placed in Myrmeciinae; it is now believed to be the ancestor of the extant primitive genus Myrmecia from Australia. Despite this, Archimyrmex is not a member to any tribe and is regarded as incertae sedis within Myrmeciinae. However, some authors believe Archimyrmex should be assigned as incertae sedis within Formicidae. These ants can be characterised by their large mandibles and body length, ranging from 13.2 to 30 mm. They also have long, thin legs and an elongated mesosoma (thorax) and petiole.

Mikeius berryi is a species of wasp found in Australia. Species of Mikeius are thought to be associated with hosts that induce galls on Acacia and Eucalyptus species.

Mikeius gatesi is a species of wasp found in Australia. Species of Mikeius are thought to be associated with hosts that induce galls on Acacia and Eucalyptus species.

Mikeius grandawi is a species of wasp found in Australia. Species of Mikeius are thought to be associated with hosts that induce galls on Acacia and Eucalyptus species.

Mikeius hartigi is a species of wasp found in Australia, the type species of its genus. Species of Mikeius are thought to be associated with hosts that induce galls on Acacia and Eucalyptus species.

Palmiriella neumanni is a species of wasp found in Australia. It was initially described as Mikeius neumanni in 2008 by Matthew Buffington. In a 2011 revision, the species was moved to the newly-erected monotypic genus Palmiriella.

Cicatrix schauffi is a species of wasp found in Australia. It was initially described as Mikeius schauffi in 2008 by Matthew Buffington. In a 2011 revision, the species was moved from Mikeius to the newly erected genus Cicatrix.

Aphelonyx is a genus of oak gall wasps in the family Cynipidae, comprising three known species:

Synergini is a tribe of tropical gall wasps in the subfamily Cynipinae.

Ufo is a genus of gall wasps in the tribe Synergini, first discovered in Japan. Its genus name Ufo comes from the common phrase "unidentified flying object", in this case applied because the researchers did not know what the wasp was when they first saw it.

Striatoandricus is a genus of Neotropical gall wasps (Cynipidae). There are six described species, four of which were formerly included in Andricus. All species induce galls on oaks in which their larvae live and feed.

Ceroptresini is a tribe of oak gall wasps in the family Cynipidae, and includes two genera: Ceroptres and Buffingtonella. All but one of the 22 species currently recognized are in Ceroptres. Ceroptresini, containing only Ceroptres, was first proposed as a tribe in 2015, and Buffingtonella was included the tribe in 2019 when the genus was first described. Species in this tribe are believed to be inquilines in galls induced by other gall wasps but this has not been confirmed.
