Military Band of the Central Military District is a military band unit of the Russian Armed Forces, based in Yekaterinburg. It is part of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Russia as well as the Central Military District. It is one of the leading creative musical groups in the Urals, Volga Region and Western Siberia in terms of brass music. [1] Especially famous are its musical numbers, accompanied by synchronous dance movements, for which the military musicians have been commonly nicknamed the "dancing orchestra."
It was founded in November 1960 by Major Evgeny Matyushkin, who served as its first director and invested a lot of effort in the formation and popularization of the band. He later became a professor at the Urals Mussorgsky State Conservatoire and was conferred the title of Honoured Cultural Worker of the RSFSR. Notable soloists that have performed with the band have included: Svetlana Komaricheva, Yury Yakovlev, Yuri Devin, and Sergei Belov. On 3 March 2011, the band celebrated its golden jubilee in the local House of Officers. [2] The band has participated in festivals in Budapest, Almaty, Tyumen, Surgut, and Khabarovsk. In 2011, the band took part in the 20th International Brass Band Festival in Chiayi (Taiwan) and the WASBE World Congress. It regularly takes part in Russian national events such as Victory Day and Defender of the Fatherland Day. The 150th Idritsa-Berlin Order of Kutuzov 2nd Class Motor Rifle Division of the Russian Ground Forces was re-instituted in 2016. It is part of the 8th Guards Army that was re-instituted in 2017.

The Special Military Exemplary Band of the Honor Guard is a special military unit that performs military music for the guard of honor of the Russian Armed Forces that greets foreign government delegations, as well as provide musical accompaniment for national events. Nikolay Mikhaylovich Mikhaylov was a Soviet military conductor. He was the Senior Director of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union from 1976 to 1993.

The Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan (MBS-AFK) is a musical department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, which is responsible for the organization of military bands in the armed forces. It oversees the development of all the bands of the Kazakh Armed Forces, as well as provides training and guidance to these bands in their activities. The purpose of military bands in the Kazakh Armed Forces is to build patriotism in the military and improve the morale of the troops through the playing of cultural and national songs. The military band service is based on the HQ Band of the Central Asian Military District, which served the area of the Kazakh SSR in the Soviet era. The Central Band of the Ministry of Defense is the most senior of these bands, with its commander, Major Timur Dzhartibayev, being the Director of Music of the band service. Most of the leadership in the service also work in the State Wind Orchestra of Republic of Kazakhstan.
The 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Aleksandriyskaya (Peacekeeping) Brigade, Military Unit Number 90600, is a unit in the Russian Ground Forces. It is the only peacekeeping brigade in the Russian Armed Forces. The formation is part of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District. It is permanently deployed in Roshchinsky village in the Samara Oblast.
Colonel General Gennady Valeryevich Zhidko, is an Uzbek-born Russian military leader who commanded the Eastern Military District from November 2018 to November 2021. He was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation in 2017. He is a colonel general as of 2020.
Andrey Valeryevich Kartapolov is a Russian politician and former army officer of the Russian Army. From 30 July 2018 to October 2021 he served as Deputy Defence Minister, and headed the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces. He had commanded the Western Military District from 2015 to 2016, and again from 2017 to 2018. Kartapolov has held the rank of colonel general since 2015. He is currently a member of parliament, a deputy of the State Duma, elected on 19 September 2021.
Aleksandr Yuryevich Chaiko, is a Russian army officer who is currently the commander of the Eastern Military District since 12 November 2021. He was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation in 2020, and is a colonel general as of 2021.
