Mor Militos Yuhanon is a Syriac Orthodox bishop in Malankara. [1] He is the Metropolitan of Thumpamon and Patriarchal Vicar of Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

Early years

Yuhanon was born on 25 April 1957 to Rev.E.O.Thomas Cor-Episcopus and Thankamma in Elavinamannil family, Omallur, Pathanamthitta. St.Stephen's Syriac Orthodox Church, Manjinikkara was his parish. [2]

Education

Yuhanon took his U. G. and P. G. from Kerala University, in History. His basic theological education is from Mor Ignatius Dayro Manjinikkara. Later he joined Serampore University as an external student and obtained Bachelor of Christian Studies (BCS) degree. [3]

Priesthood

On 14 September 1976, at the age of 19, Yuhanon was ordained deacon by Catholicose Mor Baselios Paulose II.

He was ordained Dn. E. T. John, Elavinamannil as Kassiso on 5 December 1982.

In 2000, Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, Prince Patriarch of Antioch and All the East appointed Fr. E. T. John, Elavinamannil as Reesh Dayaro and Managing Trustee of Piramadom Dayaro. Malankara Episcopal Synod selected Fr. E. T. John as the new metropolitan for Kollam and Thumpamon Dioceses. Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas ordained him as Ramban and on 8 December 2002, as metropolitan by the name Mor Militos at Patriarchal Cathedral, Damascus.

Ignatius Zakka I Iwas was the 122nd reigning Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and, as such, Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. The Jacobite Syrian Christian Church (JSCC), or the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in India also known as Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, the Jacobite Syrian Church, and the Syriac Orthodox Church in India, is a catholicate based in Kerala, India, of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch and part of the Oriental Orthodox Church. It recognizes the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East as supreme head of the church. It functions autonomously within the church, administered by the Metropolitan Trustee, under the authority of the Maphrian of India, Baselios Thomas I. Mor Themotheos Thomas is the Metropolitan of Kottayam Diocese and Secretary to the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church. Mor Themotheos Thomas was ordained as the Metropolitan of the Outside Kerala Diocese on 3 January 1991 by Mor Baselios Paulose II Catholicos of the East .

Mor Julius Yeshu Cicek was the first Syriac Orthodox Church archbishop for Central Europe. In his book Mardutho d Suryoye, he advocated an Aramean identity. He wrote over one hundred works, some of them in Aramaic.

Manjanikkara Dayara is a monastery of the Syriac Orthodox Church. It is situated at the top of the hillock in Manjanikkara, near Omallur, Pathanamthitta District, in South Kerala, India. E. A. E St. Mary's Soonoro Syriac Orthodox Church, Meenangadi, is a Marian Pilgrim center of the Syriac Orthodox Church located at Meenangadi in Kerala, India. The church is under E.A.E Arch Diocese, the first missionary association of Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, and is currently under the direct control of Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church. In 2006, the church was elevated to the status of "Marian Pilgrim Centre", and in 2018, it celebrated its diamond jubilee. It is the first church to adopt the 8 Day Lent in Malabar Region.

Dr. Geevarghese Mor Gregorios was a bishop of the Syriac Orthodox Church, President of the Episcopal Synod of the Church in India, President of the Synod of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church and the Metropolitan of Cochin, Kottayam, Kollam, Niranam and Thumpamon Dioceses.

Yulios Elias Qoro

Mor Yulios Elias Qoro (Elias Mar Julius) (1881–1962) was a Syriac Orthodox Church Bishop and the Patriarchal Delegate of India, Born as Elias Malke Qoro at Mardin on August 1, 1881,educated at school of the Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. He joined Dairo d-Kurkmo in 1902, and became a monk on 16 June 1905. He was appointed secretary to Ignatius Abded Aloho II Patriarch of Antioch in 1906, and was ordained kashisho in 1908. He became abbot of Mor Hananyo Monastery in 1911, and was appointed director of its printing press. He was consecrated bishop on 23 September 1923 in the Church of the Forty Martyrs by Ignatius Elias III Patriarch of Antioch, appointed to serve in Malankara. He served as Patriarchal Delegate to Malankara in 1927. In 1932, he established Mor Ignatius Dayro Manjinikkara on the tomb of Elias III Patriarch of Antioch at Omallur, Kerala. He established and approved order for various monasteries and churches in Kerala. He died in 1962 at Omallur, Kerala, India and was buried at Mor Ignatius Dayro Manjinikkara.

Silvanos Ayub

Ayub Mor Silvanos is a Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of America, Canada, and Europe region of the Knanaya Archdiocese. He was born on April 18, 1972. He received his first four orders of ordination on November 11, 1995, the fifth order on May 27, 1997 and became a full deacon on June 7, 1999. He was ordained as priest on August 6, 1999 by H. E. Mor Clemis Abraham, the Chief Metropolitan of the East.
