Tolosa Milkesa Mengesha (born 16 April 2000) is an Ethiopian track and field athlete. [1]

Career

Mengesha won gold in the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Junior men's race in Aarhus. [2]

In June 21 he shaved 27 seconds off his personal best in the 5000m going from 13:25.74 to 12:58.28 as he finished third in the Ethiopian Olympic trials behind Nibret Melak and Getnet Wale and secured his place at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. [3]

In September 2024, he won the Berlin Marathon with a personal record time of 2:03:17. [4] [5]

He took individual titles at the World Cross Country Championships in 2015 and 2017, and finished third in 2019. He won his first World Marathon Major at the 2017 New York City Marathon and regained his title in 2019, after a second-place finish in 2015. Kamworor also placed second at the 2023 London Marathon and earned three other podium finishes at a World Marathon Majors.

Tamirat Tola Abera is an Ethiopian Olympic and world champion long-distance runner who competes in track, road and cross country events. He won gold medal in the marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics, setting an Olympic record and the bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Tamirat competed in the marathon at the 2017 and 2022 World Athletics Championships, earning silver and gold, respectively, setting a championship record at the latter in the process. He finished third at both the 2021 Tokyo and 2023 London Marathon and won the 2023 New York City Marathon, breaking the course record.
