Mill of Mains is a residential area located in the north of Dundee, Scotland.
The area of Mill of Mains began construction in the 1960s to accommodate Dundee's expanding population, similar to other areas in the north of Dundee. Tower blocks were built in the area alongside social housing. The local primary school, Mill of Mains Primary School opened in 1972 which also serves the areas of Claverhouse and Trottick. [1]
During the 1990s and 2000s, the area of Mill of Mains started to become derelict and became a target of crime. A redevelopment of Mill of Mains began in the early 2010s with the block of flats being demolished and new housing being built. The work carried out by Home Group and the redevelopment of the area is ongoing.
Mill of Mains' local community pavilion which served the area alongside Claverhouse, was burnt down in 2017 and a campaign was launched to rebuild it. [2] [3] In 2021, the community pavilion was rebuilt next to the primary school. [4] [5]
Mill of Mains is in the North East ward of Dundee City Council, it is represented by Steven Rome and Willie Sawers of the Scottish National Party and Jax Finnegan of the Scottish Labour Party. The area is part of Dundee City West which is represented by Joe FitzPatrick in the Scottish Parliament, and in Dundee East which is represented by Stewart Hosie in the UK Parliament, both of which are Scottish National Party members.
Angus is one of the 32 local government council areas of Scotland, a registration county and a lieutenancy area. The council area borders Aberdeenshire, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross. Main industries include agriculture and fishing. Global pharmaceuticals company GSK has a significant presence in Montrose in the north of the county.

John Graham, 7th of Claverhouse, 1st Viscount Dundee was a Scottish soldier and nobleman, a Tory and an Episcopalian. He was responsible for policing southwest Scotland during and after the religious unrest and rebellion of the late 17th century, and went on to lead the Jacobite rising of 1689.
Glenrothes is a town situated in the heart of Fife, in east-central Scotland. It is about 30 miles (48 km) north of Edinburgh and 30 miles (48 km) south of Dundee. The town had a population of 39,277 in the 2011 census, making it the third largest settlement in Fife and the 19th most populous settlement in Scotland. The name Glenrothes comes from its historical link with the Earl of Rothes, who owned much of the land on which the new town has been built; Glen was added to the name to avoid confusion with Rothes in Moray and in recognition that the town lies in a river valley. The motto of Glenrothes is Ex terra vis, meaning "From the earth strength", which dates back to the founding of the town.

Fountainbridge is an area of Edinburgh, Scotland, a short distance west of the city centre, adjoining Tollcross with East Fountainbridge and West Port to the east, Polwarth to the west and south, Dalry and Haymarket to the north and Gorgie and North Merchiston to the west. Fintry is a housing scheme in Dundee, Scotland. Fintry is located in the north of the city with Mill o' Mains to the west and Whitfield to the east. On the north, Fintry is bordered by farmland, including the Powrie Farm and Powrie Castle. Local parks include Powrie Park and Finlathen Park. Fintry had a population of 6592 in 2011.
Menzieshill High School was a co-educational secondary school located in the Menzieshill area of Dundee, Scotland. The last head teacher was Helen Gray. The school closed on 1 July 2016.

Whitfield is a residential, social-housing scheme located to the north of Dundee, Scotland. Building of scheme commenced in the 1960s to accommodate Dundee's expanding population. Much of the housing was low rise, deck access flats, innovative for the time, built using the "Skarne" prefabrication system. The construction of the northernmost parts of the scheme, which were almost-exclusively Skarne blocks, continued into the early 1970s.

Carnoustie High School is a comprehensive secondary school in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland. Situated to the north of the town, the school serves Carnoustie and surrounding villages, including Barry, Monikie, Newbigging, Craigton, Muirdrum, Panbride and Easthaven.
The Dighty Burn, also known as Dighty Water or Dichty Water, is a burn or stream 20 kilometres (12 mi) in length that flows through the north and east of Dundee, Scotland.
