Mindon is a town in Burma. It is the capital of Mindon Township of Thayet District in the Magway Region.

Mindon Min King of Burma

Mindon Min was the penultimate king of Burma (Myanmar) from 1853 to 1878. He was one of the most popular and revered kings of Burma. Under his half brother King Pagan, the Second Anglo-Burmese War in 1852 ended with the annexation of Lower Burma by the British Empire. Mindon and his younger brother Kanaung overthrew their half brother King Pagan. He spent most of his reign trying to defend the upper part of his country from British encroachments, and to modernize his kingdom.

Thibaw Min King of Burma

Thibaw Min, also Thebaw or Theebaw was the last king of the Konbaung Dynasty of Myanmar (Myanmar) and also the last Burmese sovereign in the country's history. His reign ended when the Royal Burmese armed forces were defeated by the forces of the British Empire in the Third Anglo-Burmese War, on 29 November 1885, prior to its official annexation on 1 January 1886.

The Anglo-Burmese Wars were a clash between two expanding empires, the British Empire against the Konbaung Dynasty that became British India‘s most expensive and longest war, costing 5–13 million pounds sterling and spanning over 60 years. There have been three Burmese Wars or Anglo-Burmese Wars:

Kanaung Mintha Crown Prince and Modernizer of Burma Prince of Kanaung

Kanaung Mintha was crown prince of Burma and son of King Tharrawaddy and younger brother of King Mindon of Burma. Towards the end of the Second Anglo-Burmese War, Kanaung and Mindon overthrew their half brother Pagan (1848–1853); Mindon ascended the throne and Kanaung became the Heir Apparent on 11 July 1853. He was the fiery "War Prince" and the peoples' idol. Kanaung attempted to modernize the country by sending scholars to Western countries and by founding an arms industry. However, his efforts were cut short when he was killed by his two nephews. Notwithstanding his short life, he is revered by Burmese nationals for his innovations in modernizing Burma.

Supayalat Chief queen consort of Burma

Supayalat, also spelt Suphayalat, was the last queen of Burma who reigned in Mandalay (1878–1885), born to King Mindon Min and Queen of Alenandaw. The British corruption of her name was "Soup Plate". She was married to her half-brother, Thibaw, who became the last king of the Konbaung dynasty in 1878, upon Mindon Min's death. She is best known for engineering a massacre of 80 to 100 royal family members, to prevent potential rivals from usurping Thibaw's power, although she had always denied any knowledge of the plot, which may have been hatched by her mother together with some of the ministers, including the chancellor Kinwon Min Gyi U Kaung.

Pagan Min King of Burma

Pagan Min, was the ninth king of the Konbaung dynasty of Burma. Born Maung Biddhu Khyit, he was granted the title of Prince of Pagan by his father Tharrawaddy in August 1842. Pagan Min became king when Tharrawaddy died on 17 November 1846, with the formal title of His Majesty "Sri Pawara Vijaya Nanda Jatha Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Pagan Min Taya-gyi". He married 18 times.

Mindon Township is a township of Thayet District in the Magway Region of Burma (Myanmar). Its administrative seat is Mindon.

Sandamuni Pagoda

Sandamani Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa located southwest of Mandalay Hill. It was commissioned by King Mindon Min in 1874 as a memorial to Mindon Min's younger brother, Kanaung Mintha, who was assassinated along with 3 princes, Malun, Saku, and Maingpyin, during the 1866 Myingun Prince rebellion. The pagoda was erected at the provisional location of the royal palace, the Nanmyay Bontha.

Pitakataik (Mandalay)

Pitakataik was the royal library in Mandalay, commissioned by King Mindon Min in 1857 during the founding of Mandalay as a royal capital. The library was one of 7 structures built to mark the foundation of consecration of Mandalay as the royal capital. It was located at the foot of Mandalay Hill, and was a masonry building with teak joints. The building was modeled after the Pitakataik in Bagan. Copies of Tipiṭaka texts were relocated from the Amarapura Pitakataik and deposited at the newly constructed library in January 1864. The Pitakataik was formerly stocked with Pali and Burmese palm leaf manuscripts which were looted with the onset of British occupation in 1885.

Thiri Mahamingala Thupabadewi, commonly known as the Laungshe Mibaya or Queen of Laungshe, was a royal princess and senior queen consort of King Mindon during the Konbaung dynasty. She was the queen mother of the Konbaung dynasty's last king, Thibaw Min. Being a cousin of King Mindon, she was promoted to a Nanzwe Mibaya and received the appanage of Laungshe when he ascended the throne.

Seindon Mibaya, known by her royal title, Thiri Pobba Yadana Dewi, was a senior queen consort of King Mindon during the Konbaung dynasty. Being a cousin of King Mindon, she was promoted to a Nanzwe Mibaya and received the appanage of Seindon when he ascended the throne.

Kyaymyin Monastery

The monastery, located on 62nd Street, was founded originally established by a village head, the Yandabo Ywaza, in 1878. It was subsequently renovated by the Kyaymyin Queen, a minor consort of King Mindon Min.

Thingaza Monastery is a historic Buddhist monastery in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay, Burma. The monastery was established donated by King Mindon Min to the Thingaza Sayadaw in 1861. Thingaza Monastery is listed among the buildings being maintained by the Department of Archaeology. The monastery, built with 232 teak pillars, includes a shrine hall, a donation hall, and a zetawun hall.

Pakhannge Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Pakhannge village, SaLay Township, Magway Region, Myanmar (Burma). A historic site, the monastery is the largest extant Konbaung era wooden monastery in the country. In 1996, the Burmese government submitted the monastery, along with other exemplars from the Konbaung dynasty for inclusion into the World Heritage List.
