The Ministry for Internal Affairs of Buryatia (Министерства внутренних дел по Республике Бурятия) is the main law enforcement in Buryatia, Russia, also known as Buryatian Police (Полиция Бурятии).

The Republic of Buryatia is a federal subject of Russia, located in Siberia in Asia. Formerly part of the Siberian Federal District, it is now part of the Russian Far East as of November 2018 in accordance with a decree issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Its capital is the city of Ulan-Ude. Its area is 351,300 square kilometers (135,600 sq mi) with a population of 972,021.

It shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska across the Bering Strait. However, Russia recognises two more countries that border it, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, both of which are internationally recognized as parts of Georgia.

Police Law enforcement body

The police are a constituted body of persons empowered by a state to enforce the law, to protect the lives, liberty and possessions of citizens, and to prevent crime and civil disorder. Their powers include the power of arrest and the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with the police forces of a sovereign state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined as being separate from the military and other organizations involved in the defense of the state against foreign aggressors; however, gendarmerie are military units charged with civil policing. Police forces are usually public sector services, funded through taxes.
