Misbun Ramdan bin Mohmed Misbun (born 1 March 1991) is a Malaysian professional badminton player. [1] He is the son of former Malaysian international badminton player Misbun Sidek. [2]

Career

Misbun Ramdan won his first local title by upsetting Mohd Arif Abdul Latif, 21–18, 21–18 in the men’s singles final of the 2012 Pahang Open. [3] In the same year, he won his first national title by defeating Chong Wei Feng to become the new national champion. [4] [5]

In January 2013, Ramdan left Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to train under his father, Misbun Sidek. In April 2014, Ramdan was invited by BAM for the selection trials of Thomas Cup. [6] At the selection trial, he lost 21–19, 21–15 to Goh Soon Huat. [7]

In 2015, Ramdan suffered an Achilles heel rupture that kept him from competing for almost 2 years. He came back in February 2017 to compete in the National Championships and reached the singles final. He eventually lost to defending champion Lim Chi Wing. [8]

Lee is also a triple Silver Medalist in men's singles, having reached the finals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics. Dato' Sidek Abdullah Kamar was a Malaysian badminton coach and the father of Malaysia's most famous badminton-playing family, Sidek brothers who represented Malaysia in badminton.

The Sidek badminton family is a Malaysian family with a significant history within professional badminton. The patriarch of the family was an avid badminton fan, Sidek Abdullah Kamar (1936–2005). He started to train his sons at early ages at their house in Banting.

Lee Zii Jia is a Malaysian badminton player. He was the men's singles gold medalist at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and won the 2021 All England Open Badminton Championship.
