The Miss Peru 2016 pageant was held on the night of April 23rd, 2016. This national beauty contest inaugurated the brand new Ecological Center Studios of America Television in Pachacamac, Lima, Peru, after weeks of events.

Contents

The outgoing titleholder, Laura Spoya of Lima crowned her successor, Valeria Piazza of Lima at the end of the event.

The crowning featured the assistance of special guest Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines who also judged during the final telecast.

Piazza represented Peru at Miss Universe 2016 where she successfully placed in the final. The first and second runners-up were also crowned, as Prissila Howard and Danea Panta represented Peru at the Miss Grand International 2016 and Miss International 2016 pageants, respectively.

The pageant was broadcast by America Television for the first time since 2002. The event was hosted by Miss World 2004, María Julia Mantilla and presenter Mathías Brivio.

Miss Perú is the national beauty pageant of the republic of Peru. The contest gathers participants from all over the nation, including Peruvian women representing their community overseas. Having been broadcast by all the major television networks in the country during its history, the pageant is currently broadcast by América Televisión. It is preceded by two or three months of preliminary events, with the awarding of corporate prizes by sponsors.

Claudia Ortiz de Zevallos Cano is Peruvian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Perú 2003. On 9 April 2005 she was third runner-up in the Miss Asia Pacific pageant. Prior to that participation, she was a semi-finalist in both Miss Earth 2002 and Miss Universe 2003 pageants.

The Miss Perú 2009 pageant was held on April 4, 2009. That year, 22 candidates were competing for the national crown. The chosen winner represented Perú in Miss Universe 2009. The rest of the finalists would enter in different pageants.

Laura Vivian Spoya Solano is a Peruvian tv host, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won her home country's beauty national title of Miss Peru 2015. She represented Peru at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.

Following the dethronements of Anyella Grados and Tiffany Yoko Chong; the president of the Miss Peru Organization, Jessica Newton decided to organize a special edition of the Miss Peru 2019 pageant.
