Mohammad Beheshti Shirazi (Persian :محمدبهشتیشیرازی;born 28 February 1952) is an Iranian politician,artist and cultural figure who is currently Deputy Head of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization. [1] He was the first head of Cultural Heritage,Handcrafts and Tourism Organization,being appointed on 2 September 1997 by Mohammad Khatami and held the office until 2 June 2003 when he replaced with Hossein Marashi. [2] He was also head of the Fajr International Film Festival and a member of Iranian Academy of the Arts. He is an assistant professor at Shahid Beheshti University.
He is the younger brother of Alireza Beheshti Shirazi,one of the advisers of Mir-Hossein Mousavi during 2009 presidential election. [3]
Sayyed Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti was an Iranian jurist,philosopher,cleric and politician who was known as the second person in the political hierarchy of Iran after the Revolution. Beheshti is considered to have been the primary architect of Iran's post-revolution constitution,as well as the administrative structure of the Islamic republic. Beheshti is also known to have selected and trained several prominent politicians in the Islamic Republic,such as former presidents Hassan Rouhani and Mohammad Khatami,Ali Akbar Velayati,Mohammad Javad Larijani,Ali Fallahian,and Mostafa Pourmohammadi. Beheshti also served as the Secretary General of the Islamic Republic Party,and was the head of the Iranian judicial system. He further served as Chairman of the Council of Islamic Revolution,and the Assembly of Experts. Beheshti earned a PhD in philosophy,and was fluent in English,German and Arabic.
Mir-Hossein Mousavi Khameneh is an Iranian socialist politician,artist,architect and opposition figure who served as the 45th and last Prime Minister of Iran from 1981 to 1989. He was a reformist candidate for the 2009 presidential election and eventually the leader of the opposition in the post-election unrest. Mousavi served as the president of the Iranian Academy of Arts until 2009,when conservative authorities removed him. Although Mousavi had always considered himself a reformist and believed in promoting change within the 1979 constitution,on 3 February 2023,in response to the Mahsa Amini protests,he announced his opposition to the Islamic Republic and asked for a widespread referendum to fully change the constitution and make a fundamental change in Iran's political system.
