Mohammad Nejatullah Siddiqi is an Indian economist and is the winner of the King Faisal International Prize for Islamic Studies.

Born in India in 1931, he was educated at Aligarh Muslim University as well as Rampur and Azamgarh. He served as associate professor of economics and professor of Islamic studies at the Aligarh Muslim University and as professor of economics at the King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in its Center for Research in Islamic Economics. He later became a Fellow at the Center for Near Eastern Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, and after that a visiting scholar at the Islamic Research & Training Institute, Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah.

He is a prolific writer in Urdu and English. According to WorldCat, he has 63 works in 177 publications in 5 languages and 1,301 library holdings. [2] Several of his works have been translated into Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai, etc. Perhaps his most widely read book is Banking without interest which was published in 27 editions between 1973 and 2000 in 3 languages and is held by 220 libraries worldwide. During his long academic career, he has supervised a number of Ph.D. theses in the universities in India, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. He has been and continues to be associated with a number of academic journals as editor or advisor. He has served on numerous committees and participated in many conferences in various parts of the world. He is a very helpful for all and shares his valuable knowledge in the society. Presently he lives in Aligarh, India. He is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Management Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, India.

Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman Indian academic

Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman is an Indian scholar of Unani medicine. He founded Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences in 2000. He had earlier served as Professor and chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia at the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, for over 40 years before retiring as Dean Faculty of Unani Medicine. Presently, he is serving AMU as "Honorary Treasurer". In 2006, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri for his contribution to Unani Medicine.

Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi Indian islamic scholar

Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi was an Indian Islamic scholar and author of over fifty books in various languages. He was the theorist of a revivalist movement. In particular he believed Islamic civilisation could be revived via a synthesis of western ideas and Islam. He served as the seventh chancellor of the Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama.

Madrasatul Islah is a traditional Islamic institution of learning and a renowned center of oriental and Islamic studies at Sarai Mir in the Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. It was started by Mawlana Muhammad Shafi in 1908 along with participation of prominent scholars and religious seminaries of the area. The madrassa was established with a different syllabus and ideology than that of Darul Uloom Deoband and Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama. Shibli Nomani and Hamiduddin Farahi are regarded as chief architects of this madrasa.

Muhammad Abdul Haq Ansari was an Islamic scholar from India. He was the Amir (president) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) from 2003 to 2007. He was the member of Central Advisory Council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. He was also the Chancellor of Jamia Islamia, Shantapuram, Kerala. His book Sufism and Shariah is a synthesis of Sufi and Shariah thought, especially a Tatbiq of Shaikh Ahmed Sir Hindi and Shah Waliullah's thought. It grew out of his in-depth engagement with kalam, tasawwuf and fiqh in Islamic history. His other major contributions are a book on Mishkawah's philosophy and an English translation of Ibn Taymiyyah's fatwas with an introduction. He also wrote 'Learning the Language of Quran' it is one of the best English guides for the beginners learning to read the Qur'an. In New Delhi he established the Islami Academy, aimed at training graduates from secular educational background in Islamic Sciences based on the madrasa curriculum.

Fazlur Rahman Faridi was an Islamic studies scholar, economist and a writer on Islam and contemporary Issues. He was the Director, Research and Studies of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

Professor Muhammad Ilyas (Elias) Burney (1890–1959) was the first head of Department of Economics at Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He published about 40 books in Urdu, Persian, Arabic and English. He wrote the first book about Economics in Urdu, for which Sir Muhammad Iqbal complimented him in 1917. His other books in economics included Ilm ul Maaeshat, Muqaddima e Maashiyat and Indian Economics.

Mohammed bin Faisal Al Saud was a Saudi prince and businessman. He was a son of King Faisal and was one of the pioneers in the establishment of Islamic banking.

Mian Mohammad Sharif TI, was an influential Pakistani philosopher, Islamic scholar, and college professor. He is noted for his notable work in analytical philosophy and pioneered the idea of Muslim philosophy. He wrote on this subject and his work was published in international philosophical journals.

Abdul Azim Islahi is a professor at the Islamic Economics Institute, Jeddah. He has spent more than 30 years in research, teaching and expanding the frontiers of the discipline of Islamic economics, King Abdulaziz University. Muhammad Salim Qasmi Siddiqi was an Indian Muslim scholar who co-founded the Darul Uloom Waqf in Deoband and served as its first rector. He was an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband. He received the fourth Shah Waliullah Award and was honoured with the Mark of Distinction from Egypt.

Saeed Ahmad Akbarabadi was an Indian Islamic scholar and an Urdu-language author who co-founded the Nadwatul Musannifeen. He was the dean professor of the Faculty of Theology, Aligarh Muslim University.

Syed Anwarul Haq Haqqi Indian academic

Syed Anwarul Haq Haqqi was an Indian scholar who headed the Political Science department of Aligarh Muslim University for twenty years. He was the younger brother of Abrarul Haq Haqqi.

Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar and historian who served as director of the Institute of Islamic Studies of Aligarh Muslim University.

Abul Kalam Qasmi Indian scholar, critic, and poet (1950–2021)

Abul Kalam Qasmi was an Indian scholar, critic, and poet in the Urdu language who served as the dean of the Faculty of Arts at the Aligarh Muslim University. He was the editor of Tehzeeb-ul-Akhlaq and authored books such as The Criticism of Poetry. He translated E. M. Forster's Aspects of the Novel into Urdu as Novel ka Fun. He was conferred with the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009, and the Ghalib Award in 2013.
