Academics
MCPS is a college preparatory school, offering both an honors and regular program to its students. In the high school honors program, students may take upper level electives, such as Advanced Placement courses in American History, Calculus, English, Biology, Physics, Computer Science, and Fine Arts, as well as honors courses in Chemistry, British Literature, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Latin II, and Spanish III, among others. Between thirty and forty percent of its graduates receive scholarship offers to colleges around the United States. Four years of religion, social studies, science, mathematics and English are required for all students. Electives include offerings in band, physical education, art, computer applications, HTML design, Latin, and Spanish, among others.
MCPS fields varsity teams in football, flag football, volleyball, cheerleading, cross-country, basketball, softball, soccer, girls' tennis, track, baseball, and wrestling. Introductory Band begins in 5th grade, Intermediate Band in grades 7-8, with a concert and marching band for grades 7-12. Students may also participate in yearbook, key club, pep club, student government and right to life clubs at the high school level.
Facilities
MCPS has three campuses, all located in east Montgomery: the St. Bede campus (K4-6) on the corner of Atlanta Highway and Perry Hill Road, the Holy Spirit campus (K4-6) at 8580 Vaughn Road, and the middle school/high school campus (7-8 and 9-12) at 5350 Vaughn Road.
At the St. Bede campus, there are two academic buildings, a Family Life Center consisting of an infant to PreK day care, meeting rooms and a gym, a fine arts building, a soccer field, playground and a church. The Holy Spirit campus (dedicated August 12, 2012) features a two-story building with 16 classrooms on two levels. In addition to a college preparatory academic program, students at both elementary campuses have access to a robust set of offerings in art, library, resource, computers, and music.
The Middle School/High School campus consists of a high school academic building; a cafeteria/multi-purpose facility; a Science/Library building; a gym, weight room, and locker room facility (2019); performing arts classrooms and band room; a middle school academic building; a football/soccer stadium; baseball field; softball field; practice field; concessions; and fieldhouse.
Holy Spirit Preparatory School is an independent, Roman Catholic preparatory school located in Atlanta and Sandy Springs, Georgia. It was originally established in 1996 as Donnellan School.
St. Mary's High School is a small, co-educational, college-preparatory Catholic high school located in downtown Annapolis, Maryland. It is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore. St. Mary's is accredited by AdvancED, the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and is recognized and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education.
Saint Joseph Catholic School is a Catholic high school located in Madison, Mississippi. The school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1870.
Liahona Preparatory Academy is a regionally accredited private school in Utah County, Utah, United States, that offers instruction to students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school was founded by Brent and Kolleen DeGraff. In 2019, the DeGraffs retired and the school was sold to the Long Family and is currently run by Jordan Long, a graduate of and long time teacher/administrator at Liahona. The school blends core academics with the principles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Liahona has been in operation since 1998, and is named after an artifact described in The Book of Mormon.
The Highlands School is a private, PK–12 Catholic college preparatory school in Irving, Texas, United States. It was established in 1986, in the front room of a family's house in Highland Park, Dallas. The last twenty years, The Highlands School changed location twice. The school itself has seen many upgrades from the addition of a football field and lights to a gymnasium, weight room, and new technology in the classrooms. The Highlands School is fully accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) since 1999, and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 2006. For the fourth consecutive year, the school has been named by the Acton Institute as one of the "Top 50 Catholic Schools" in the country. In 2012, it was also named a top 50 Catholic High School by the Cardinal Newman Society.
St. John Paul II Catholic High School is a coed grades 9-12 college preparatory school, located in Huntsville, Alabama. St. John Paul II Catholic High School is the only Catholic parochial high school in the greater Huntsville area. It was founded in 1996 on 4810 Bradford Drive, previously known as Catholic High School. A new 55-acre (220,000 m2) campus was completed in late 2010 in Thornton Research Park. The new campus includes a chapel, academic wings, auditorium, gymnasium, and athletic fields.
Holy Cross Regional Catholic School was a private, Roman Catholic school in Lynchburg, Virginia, for Pre-K through 12th grade. It was in association with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Richmond, which permanently closed the school after years of declining enrollment led to financial exigency.
St. Bernard Preparatory School is a private, Roman Catholic day school and boarding school in Cullman, Alabama. It is run independently of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama by the Benedictine monks of St. Bernard Abbey, located on the same campus.
St. Joseph Catholic School is a private Roman Catholic K-12 school in Greenville, Mississippi, under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jackson. St. Joseph is accredited by CASI/Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and by the Mississippi Department of Education. All professional instructional and administrative staff are fully licensed. Co-curricular and sports activities are governed by the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS). St. Joseph is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and by the Mississippi Department of Education.
Resurrection High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Pascagoula, Mississippi. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Biloxi.
Sacred Heart Catholic School is a Roman Catholic parochial school in the historic district of downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi where it is mostly surrounded by Victorian-era homes and other churches. It is the only PK-12 school in Northern Deanery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Biloxi.
Bishop McNamara High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Kankakee, Illinois. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet in Illinois.
Concord Academy, formerly named Concord First Assembly Academy and First Assembly Christian School, is a private college preparatory Christian school in Concord, North Carolina. It was founded in 1976 as a part of the ministry of First Assembly Worship Center. Continuing a close relationship with its home church, First Assembly Christian School became known as CFA Academy in 2013 and then Concord Academy in 2020. It offers pre-school daycare through 12th grade, with about 700 students.
Tyngsborough High School (THS) is located at 36 Norris Road in Tyngsborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States.
St. Anselm's Abbey School is an all-boys preparatory school for grades six through twelve in Washington D.C., United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. The school sits on a 40-acre wooded campus in the Michigan Park neighborhood of the city's Northeast quadrant. It is run by the Benedictine monks of Saint Anselm's Abbey.
Lanakila Baptist School is a college-preparatory K-12 private school located in Honolulu County, Hawaii. It serves grades sixth through twelve and has a current enrollment of about 70 students. The student population is ethnically diverse and includes Filipinos, Caucasians, part-Hawaiians, Japanese, Hispanics, Indo-Chinese, Chinese, Samoans, and African-Americans.
Mannahouse Christian Academy is a private preK-12th grade Christian school located in Portland, Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington. It is associated with Mannahouse. The campus is within Mannahouse Church, formerly City Bible Church. This church annually hosts One Conference, an event which students are encouraged to attend. The school is accredited with AdvancED. Mannahouse Christian Academy is also partnered with George Fox University for an opportunity to earn college credits for their junior and senior high school students.
Kohelet Yeshiva High School is a Modern Orthodox college preparatory Jewish high school that offers a dual curriculum program of Judaic and General Studies for both boys and girls in Merion, Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia suburbs.
Eastern Christian School is a private Christian school located on three campuses in Northern New Jersey. Eastern Christian Elementary School (ECES), Eastern Christian Middle School (ECMS), and Eastern Christian High School (ECHS) are all part of Eastern Christian School. Eastern Christian is home to students from middle and northern NJ as well as southern NY. EC also offers a one to four year middle and high school program for F-1 Visa Students.
Korea International School, Jeju Campus (KISJ) is South Korea's first international boarding school. The school is a sister campus to Korea International School and an affiliate of YBM, a publishing and English-language education services company. Founded in 2010 and first opened in 2011 as part of the Jeju Global Education City, the school's first senior class of 52 students matriculated in May 2016. KISJ is a proprietary, nonsectarian school offering an internationalized American college preparatory curriculum from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12, with a boarding program starting in Grade 6. The high school began its AP Capstone™ in 2017–18, one of seven schools to offer it in South Korea.
