Mortician is an American death metal band formed in Yonkers, New York, in 1989. [1] They have released most of their albums since their House by the Cemetery EP with Relapse Records, but have released their latest album with their own label, Mortician Records. They have toured several times throughout America and Europe. The band is inspired by horror and slasher films, which is heavily expressed in the lyrics, artwork, and the uses of samples throughout their discography.

Influences

Mortician is influenced by other seminal death metal and grindcore acts, chiefly Repulsion, Impetigo, and Autopsy, but also Massacre, Terrorizer, Incantation, Pungent Stench, Napalm Death, and Carcass.[ citation needed ] Founding members were also heavily influenced by Black Sabbath.

Wes Benscoter is an American artist who is best known for his work album covers, especially heavy metal albums. He also has made covers for magazines and books, and shirt designs, and his art is featured in many galleries around the world. Most of his work prior to 2006 is done using airbrush. Benscoter lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Will Rahmer is an American musician. He was the vocalist in the death metal band Incantation temporarily during mid-1990, while forming Mortician with drummer Matt Sicher and guitarist Matt Harshner. Rahmer is the lyricist, vocalist, and bassist for Mortician, and is heavily influenced by horror movies, of which he is a collector. Known for his extremely guttural vocals, Rahmer is the co-founder of New York Death Militia and the founder of Redrum Records.
