Mount Baker Senior High is a four-year public secondary school located in rural Whatcom County in the town of Deming, Washington.

Contents

The school qualifies for Title 1 funding under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and 47% of students are considered economically disadvantaged. [4]

Despite the Title 1 funding, the school is severely underfunded, with class sizes often outnumbering the amount of available chairs in a classroom, among other issues. [5]

Academics

Mount Baker High School partners with Everett Community College to provide college credits to students. [6] The school also hosts a scholarship foundation to support students in pursuing further education. [7]

Athletics

Mount Baker, competing in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's Northwest Conference, participates in eleven varsity sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, fastpitch, football, golf, soccer, swimming, track, volleyball, and wrestling. [8]

Activities

Mount Baker Senior High offers students a wide variety of activities and clubs including ASB, choir, [9] drama, Mt Baker FFA, [10] the Mountaineer Marching Band, [11] and even a therapy dog program. [12] [13] In 2016 the school's geology class lead a free disaster prep workshop for the community, which included two experts on the topic. [14] [15]
