Mount Warren ( 77°43′S85°57′W / 77.717°S 85.950°W Coordinates: 77°43′S85°57′W / 77.717°S 85.950°W ) is a mountain rising to 2,340 metres (7,680 ft) in Gromshin Heights, just north of the turn in Newcomer Glacier on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It surmounts Newcomer Glacier to the west and south, and Vicha Glacier to the northeast.
The peak was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Aviation Master Sergeant Cecil O. Warren, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC), navigator on U.S. Navy (USN) Squadron VX-6 photographic flights over the range on Dec. 14–15, 1959. [1]
Mount Cornwell is a mountain, 2,460 metres (8,070 ft) high, standing 2 miles (3 km) south of Mount Washburn in Gromshin Heights along the northeast side of Newcomer Glacier in the northern part of the Sentinel Range. It surmounts lower Vicha Glacier to the east and Newcomer Glacier to the west.
Bracken Peak is a peak, 1,240 metres (4,070 ft) high, standing in Sostra Heights south of the terminus of Newcomer Glacier and 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Mount Malone, on the east side of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarticta. It surmounts Anchialus Glacier to the west and Vit Ice Piedmont to the east.
Mount Ojakangas is an elongated mountain rising to about 2,450 m, 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) northwest of Mount Washburn in Gromshin Heights in the north part of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. It surmounts Vicha Glacier to the east and Newcomer Glacier to the west.
Newcomer Glacier is a glacier 20 nautical miles long transecting the north part of the Sentinel Range, flowing from the vicinity of Allen Peak southeast between Gromshin Heights and the main ridge of range, and then east between Gromshin Heights and Sostra Heights to where it leaves the Sentinel Range north of Bracken Peak and south of Foros Spur. Named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Commander Loyd E. Newcomer of U.S. Navy Squadron VX-6, pilot on photographic flights over the range on December 14–15, 1959.
Crosswell Glacier is a glacier 10 nautical miles long, flowing north-northeast from Mount Shinn between Sullivan Heights and Bearskin Ridge, in the central part of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. Together with Patton and Pulpudeva Glaciers, it enters Ellen Glacier northwest of Mamarchev Peak and southeast of Mount Jumper.
Mount Reimer is a mountain, 2,430 m, in the northern portion of the Sentinel Range, standing on the south side of Newcomer Glacier 5 mi southwest of Mount Warren. It surmounts Skaklya Glacier to the southeast and Vidul Glacier to the north-northwest.
Mount Lanning is a mountain, 1,820 metres (5,970 ft) high, located at the south side of Newcomer Glacier, 5 nautical miles (9 km) southeast of Mount Warren, in the northern portion of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It forms the north extremity of Sostra Heights, and surmounts Sabazios Glacier to the southwest and Anchialus Glacier to the southeast.
Kornicker Glacier is a glacier draining northeastwards from the cirque bounded by Mount Liptak, Mount Southwick, Mount Milton and Mount Mullen in the southern Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The glacier flows along the northwestern side of Petvar Heights and merges with the terminus of the southeast-flowing Thomas Glacier as both glaciers emerge from the range.
Bender Glacier is a glacier that flows from Mount Atkinson and Mount Craddock southwards between Chaplin Peak and Krusha Peak, and joins Nimitz Glacier just south of Gilbert Spur in the southern Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. Receiving ice influx from its left tributaries Severinghaus Glacier, Brook Glacier and Bolgrad Glacier.
Cervellati Glacier is the 5 nmi long glacier situated southeast of Patton Glacier and northwest of Ramorino Glacier on the east slope of Sentinel Range in the Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It flows northeastwards between Tyree Ridge and Epperly Ridge, and enters Crosswell Glacier southeast of Mount Bearskin. The feature was named by US-ACAN in 2006 after Roberto Cervellati, Italian representative to the SCAR Expert Group on Geographic Information, 1992–2006, and director of the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica in the same period.
Malasar Peak is the partly ice-free peak in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica rising to 2841 m on the side ridge that trends 9.15 km from Mount Dalrymple on the main crest of northern Sentinel Range east-northeastwards to Robinson Pass. It surmounts Embree Glacier to the southeast and Sabazios Glacier to the north.
Vidul Glacier is the 7.5 km long and 1.4 km wide glacier on the east side of the main crest of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is situated northwest of Skaklya Glacier and southwest of the middle course of Newcomer Glacier. The glacier drains the north slopes of Mount Reimer and the east slopes of Mount Dawson, flows northwards and joins Newcomer Glacier west of Mount Warren in Gromshin Heights.
Sabazios Glacier is the 10 nautical miles long and 3 nautical miles wide glacier on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is situated south of Newcomer Glacier, west of Anchialus Glacier, north of Embree Glacier, and east of Zhenda Glacier and Skaklya Glacier. The glacier drains the east slopes of Mount Alf and Mount Sharp, and the north slopes of the side ridge that trends 9.15 km from Mount Dalrymple on the main crest of Sentinel Range east-northeast to Robinson Pass, flows northwards and joins Newcomer Glacier northwest of Mount Lanning in Sostra Heights.
Sostra Heights are the heights rising ro 2460 m at Mount Malone on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. They extend 22 km in northwest–southeast direction and 16.5 km in northeast–southwest direction. The heights are bounded by Embree Glacier to the south, Sabazios Glacier to the west, Newcomer Glacier to the north and Rutford Ice Stream to the east, and separated by Robinson Pass to the southwest from the side ridge that trends 9.15 km east-northeastwards from Mount Dalrymple on the main crest of Sentinel Range. Their interior is drained by Anchialus Glacier and Vit Ice Piedmont.
Anchialus Glacier is the 8.5 km long and 3.4 km wide glacier in Sostra Heights on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is situated north of lower Embree Glacier, east of Sabazios Glacier, south of lower Newcomer Glacier and northwest of Vit Ice Piedmont. The glacier drains the northeast slopes of Mount Malone and the west slopes of Bracken Peak, flows northwards and joins Newcomer Glacier east of Mount Lanning.
Vit Ice Piedmont is the glacier extending 12 km in north-south direction and 6 km in east-west direction in Sostra Heights on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is situated north of the end of Embree Glacier, east of Bracken Peak, southwest of Anchialus Glacier and south of the end of Newcomer Glacier. The glacier flows eastwards into Rutford Ice Stream.
Kipra Gap is the 2.3 km long, mostly ice-covered saddle of elevation 1650 m in northern Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica connecting Mount Weems on the north to Gromshin Heights on the south.
Gromshin Heights are the heights rising to 2790 m at Mount Mogensen on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. They extend 35 km in north–south direction and 20 km in east–west direction. The feature is upturned U-shaped with its interior drained by the south flowing Vicha Glacier, and its northeast side marked by the extensive Miller Bluffs. The heights are bounded by Rutford Ice Stream to the east and Newcomer Glacier to the south and west, and is connected to Mount Wyatt Earp on the northwest by Skamni Saddle, and to Mount Weems on the north by Kipra Gap. Their interior is drained by Vicha and Yamen Glaciers.
Vicha Glacier is the 27 km long and 6 km wide glacier in Gromshin Heights on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is situated northeast of Newcomer Glacier and southwest of Yamen Glacier. The glacier drains southwards along the east slopes of Mount Ulmer and Mount Ojakangas, then turns southeast at Mount Washburn, flows east of Mount Cornwell and Mount Warren, and southwest of Branishte Peak, and together with Newcomer Glacier joins Rutford Ice Stream south of Foros Spur.
Branishte Peak is the ice-covered peak rising to 2000 m in the southeastern portion of Gromshin Heights on the east side of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It surmounts Yamen Glacier to the north, Rutford Ice Stream to the east and Vicha Glacier to the southwest.
