Rocky Mount is a town in and the county seat of Franklin County, Virginia, United States. The town is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area, and had a population of 4,799 as of the 2010 census. It is located in the Roanoke Region of Virginia.
Mount Jackson is a town in Shenandoah County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,994 at the 2010 census.
Christ Church, founded in 1817, is a historic Episcopal church located at 31st and O Streets, Northwest, Washington, D.C., in the Georgetown neighborhood. Its first rector was Reuel Keith (1792–1842), who with William Holland Wilmer rector of St. Paul's Church in 1818 founded an Education Society to train Episcopal priests. Rev. Keith left this parish in 1820 to accept a position at Bruton Parish Church and teach at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, although he later returned to the new national capital and taught at the Virginia Theological Seminary when it was founded in 1823.
The Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, known as Christian Church at Mt. Pleasant or Mt. Pleasant Community Church, was built in 1856 near Stayton, Oregon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 for its architecture.
Fort Van Meter — or Fort VanMeter — is a mid-18th century frontier fort in the South Branch Potomac River Valley about 9 miles (14 km) southwest of Romney in Hampshire County, West Virginia, USA. It is located 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Moorefield and about a mile northeast of the former community of Glebe at the northern end of the rugged river gorge known as The Trough.
Earlysville Union Church, also known as Earlysville Free Union Church, is a historic church located on VA 743, northwest of the junction with VA 633 in Earlysville, Albemarle County, Virginia. It was built in 1833, and is a one-story, frame building with weatherboard siding and a gable roof on a low stone foundation. Entrance to the building is by two doors on the south gable end. It measures approximately 50 feet long by 30 feet wide. The building was originally one room; a small vestibule with flanking rooms for Sunday School rooms was partitioned off around 1880. It is a rare surviving example of interdenominational churches constructed at the beginning of the 19th century in Albemarle County. It was used the Baptists, Methodists and Presbyterians until the turn of the 20th century. The building continued in use as an interdenominational Sunday School for the community until 1977. In 1995, the building underwent restoration.
Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, also known as Big Levels Baptist Church, Lewisburg Baptist Church, and Mount Tabor Church, is a historic Baptist church at Court and Foster Streets in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. It was built in 1832, and is a 1 1/2 story, brick meeting house building with Gothic style design elements. It measures 36 feet long by 40 feet wide and sits on a thick limestone foundation. It features a 10 feet by 16 feet frame tower, topped with an octagonal cap and belfry.
Harmony Grove Meeting House, also known as Harmony Grove Church, is a historic church off I-79 in Harmony Grove, Monongalia County, West Virginia. It was built in 1854, and is a small, one-story wood frame building. It measures 20 feet wide and 50 feet long. It sits on a foundation of rough-cut stone blocks. It is the oldest unaltered church building in Monongalia County.
The Holtkamp Round Barn is an historic building located near Salem in rural Henry County, Iowa, United States. It was built in 1918 by its first owner B.J. Holtkamp who used the plans drawn up by Matt L. King. The building is a true round barn that measures 50 feet (15 m) in diameter. It is constructed of clay tile from Mt. Pleasant Brick & Tile Mfg. Co. of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and features an aerator, hay carrier, and a two-pitch roof. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986.
Mt. Olive Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic Methodist Episcopal church building in Leesburg, Virginia, United States. It was built in 1890 and is a one-story, wood-frame building in the Late Gothic Revival style. It sits on a fieldstone foundation and measures 23 feet wide and 42 feet deep.
Point Pleasant School is a historic one-room school building located at Laurel Fork, Carroll County, Virginia. It was built in 1911, and is a one-story, weatherboarded, frame building with a rectangular footprint measuring approximately 34 feet by 37 feet. It has a steeply pitched hipped roof that is nearly pyramidal. The school closed in 1948–1949.
Slash Church, also known as the Upper Church-St. Paul's Parish is a historic Disciples of Christ Church, formerly an Anglican/Episcopal church located at 11353 Mt. Hermon Road, Ashland, Hanover County, Virginia. Built of southern yellow pine cut from the property in 1729–30, it is the oldest frame house of worship still in use in Virginia.
Mount Zion Old School Baptist Church, also known as Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church and Mount Zion Old School Predestinarian Baptist Church, is a historic Primitive Baptist church located at Gilberts Corner, Loudoun County, Virginia. It is now maintained by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority: the property including the adjoining cemetery is open from dawn to dusk and the church itself open on the fourth Sunday of various months, or by reservation for weddings and events.
Mt. Vernon Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church in Maces Spring, Virginia, United States. It was built about 1895 and is a one-story, rectangular frame structure with gable roof and simple wooden steeple. The church is most notable for its association with the Carter Family, a traditional American Country music group that recorded between 1927 and 1956. Behind the church is the cemetery containing the graves of Alvin Pleasant "A.P." Delaney Carter (1891–1960) and his wife Sara Dougherty Carter (1898–1979).

It includes a variety of residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, and governmental buildings primarily dating from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries. Notable buildings include the Sheffey Loom House, Odd Fellows Lodge, Look & Lincoln Wagon Factory warehouse, the Beaux-Arts style Marion County Courthouse (1905), Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, Courtview Building (1890s), Marion High School (1907-1908), Marion Junior College (1912), the Overall Factory, Weiler Building, Bank of Marion (1922), Royal Oak Presbyterian Church (1923), Marion Municipal Building (1935), Marion Post Office (1936), and a Lustron house (1948). Also located in the district are the separately listed Hotel Lincoln, Lincoln Theatre, Marion Male Academy, and Norfolk & Western Railway Depot.
Pleasant Green Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic African-American Methodist Episcopal church located at Seebert, Pocahontas County, West Virginia. It was built in 1888, and is a one-story, front-gable building with a standing seam metal roof, and clapboard siding. The rectangular plan building measures approximately 26 feet, 8 inches, by 34 feet, 3 inches and has Gothic Revival style details. The building features a central entrance bell tower. Also on the property are the contributing parsonage and cemetery.
Seebert Lane Colored School, also known as Pleasant Green School and Hillsboro School, is a historic one-room school for African-American students located at Seebert, Pocahontas County, West Virginia. It was built about 1898, and is a one-story, front-gable frame building. The rectangular plan building measures approximately 24 feet, 4 inches, by 40 feet, 4 inches. The building has a symmetrical facade, small porch supported by two simple, rounded columns, and a cupola. Also on the property is a contributing fuel shed. In 1921, the children of Seebert Lane Colored School were photo documented by Lewis W. Hine as part of his work with the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC). There is no reliable date for when the building stopped operating as a school, though it likely coincided with desegregation in 1954.
Cornland School is a one-room schoolhouse located in Chesapeake, Virginia. "It is believed to be the oldest pre-Rosenwald School still standing in Tidewater Virginia." It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
The former Second Baptist Church is a historic building located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States. The First Colored Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, later Second Baptist Church, was founded in the summer of 1863 by members of First Baptist Church for the education and worship of the community's African American population. The congregation is also referred to as the "African Baptist Church". It is possible that this building was the original Methodist Episcopal church building constructed in 1843. It is believed that it was moved here in 1856 or 1857 for a newly established congregation of the Methodist Protestant Church. Either that or the main part of this small frame church was built here at that time. Regardless, the Methodist Protestant congregation did not succeed and the property was sold to First Baptist Church in January 1864 for use by the "Colored Baptist Church."
