Islam is the third largest religion in the United States (1%), behind Christianity and Judaism (2%), and equaling the shares of Buddhism and Hinduism. A 2017 study estimated that 1.1% of the population of the United States are Muslim. In 2017, twenty states, mostly in the South and Midwest, reported Islam to be the largest non-Christian religion. In 2020, the U.S. Religion Census found there to be 4.45 million Muslim Americans, or roughly 1.3% of the population.

Dearborn Mosque is a mosque belonging to the American Moslem Society in Dearborn, Michigan. It was built in 1937 by the nascent Islamic community, and was only the second mosque constructed in the United States. The building is three stories high and almost an entire city block on the intersection of Vernor and Dix Streets.
The Almighty Black P. Stone Nation is an American street gang founded in Chicago. The gang was originally formed in the late 1950s as the Blackstone Rangers. The organization was co-founded by Eugene Hairston and Jeff Fort. In later years, under Fort's leadership, an Islamic faction of the gang emerged, naming themselves the "El Rukn tribe of the Moorish Science Temple of America" . They eventually started describing themselves as Orthodox Sunni Muslims. Jeff Fort changed their fort name from El Rukn Moorish Science Mosque, to El Rukn Sunni Masjid al-Malik.
The Islamic Center of Irvine (ICOI) is a mosque and Islamic community center founded by the local Muslim community in the city of Irvine, California on August 28, 2004. It is one of the largest Muslim congregations in California, with an estimated 2,500.0 worshipers attending weekly programs, and offers a variety of services from youth programs to senior workshops and interfaith sports activities. The Islamic Center of Irvine is partnered with the Islamic Society of Orange County in nearby Garden Grove, the Orange County Islamic Foundation in Mission Viejo, and the Islamic Institute of Orange County in Anaheim. The center has also teamed up with various churches and recently signed a friendship pact and held an event with Saddleback Church, one of the largest churches in the country.
Mosque Maryam, also known as Muhammad Mosque #2 or Temple #2, is the headquarters of the Nation of Islam, located in Chicago, Illinois. It is at 7351 South Stony Island Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. Louis Farrakhan's headquarters are not on the premises. The building was originally the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church before it relocated to suburban Palos Hills. Elijah Muhammad, Farrakhan's predecessor as head for NOI, purchased the building in 1972. Muhammad was lent $3 million from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to convert the former church.
Universal School is an Islamic, religious, K-12 private school, that is located in Bridgeview, Illinois, in the Chicago metropolitan area. Students take Islamic Studies, Arabic language, and Quran classes. The school motto is "Where Islam and Education come together." Universal School was officially founded in 1989, and opened on September 4, 1990, to 140 students and 11 faculty members.
The Al Sadiq Mosque was commissioned in 1922 in the Bronzeville neighborhood in city of Chicago. The Al-Sadiq Mosque is one of America's earliest built mosques and the oldest standing mosque in the country today. This mosque was funded with the money predominantly donated by African-American Ahmadi Muslim converts.

Islamic Foundation is a mosque located in Villa Park, Illinois. It was built in 1974 and was one of the largest mosques in the United States upon its completion. The mosque is connected to Islamic Foundation School, with which it is affiliated.
Mid-Hudson Islamic Association is an Islamic Association located at Masjid Al-Noor in Wappingers Falls, NY, United States. The group was founded in the 1980s in response to a large addition of Muslim families in the Hudson River Valley. The group originally met in their own homes for prayers and social/religious events. In 1990, they opened a mosque that provided prayer space, an educational Sunday school, and community services. The building has three stories - the men's prayer hall is located on the ground floor, and the women's prayer balcony is on the second floor overlooking the main prayer hall. The basement of the mosque serves as a community hall. A small minaret was added to the north side of the building sometime after the original construction.
Muhammad University of Islam (MUI) is a Nation of Islam (NOI)-affiliated preschool to 12th Grade school in the South Shore area of Chicago, Illinois, United States, located next to Mosque Maryam. Every major NOI mosque has a MUI. The schools are headed by the Nation of Islam's Ministry of Education, led by Dr. Larry Muhammad. Established in 1930, MUI is the first Islamic Black school system in America.
Baitur Rehman Mosque is located in Silver Spring, Maryland in the United States. The mosque was inaugurated by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, the late head of the Ahmadiyya Community, on October 14, 1994. The mosque is run by the Ahmadiyya Community. An estimated 5,000 Ahmadis and guests from across the United States attended the opening ceremony.

The Imam Mahdi Islamic Education Center (IMIEC) of Baltimore is a mosque and Islamic education center in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It is located on 2406 Putty Hill Ave, Parkville, Maryland, 21234; the site was purchased in 2003 by donation of a local Muslim. It is a heavily fortified building, with no way in other than with a key. Unfortunately, it currently lacks any guards and the current owner of the mosque is unknown, though one can contact IMIEC leadership through their website. As with many American mosques, there is not a permanent sheikh only serving IMIEC. Learned community members, both male and female, give lectures when the sheikh is traveling. IMIEC is independently funded by community members, not by the Iranian government.
Masjid DarusSalam is a mosque in Lombard, Illinois, completed in 2013. The mosque is home to the DarusSalam Seminary, a national project which aims to educate the Islamic community in the traditional Islamic sciences.
Islamic Foundation North is a mosque located in Waukegan, Illinois. Its current building was built in 2004. The organization itself has existed since 1977 when it was established to serve the needs of the Muslim community of Chicago's northern suburbs. It is not affiliated with Islamic Foundation in Villa Park, Illinois. The Imam and resident scholar of the mosque is Azfar Uddin.
Ahmadiyya is an Islamic branch in the United States. The earliest contact between the American people and the Ahmadiyya movement in Islam was during the lifetime of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. In 1911, during the era of the First Caliphate of the Community, the Ahmadiyya movement in India began to prepare for its mission to the United States. However, it was not until 1920, during the era of the Second Caliphate of the Ahmadiyya movement, that Mufti Muhammad Sadiq, under the directive of the caliph, would leave England on SS Haverford for the United States. Sadiq established the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United States in 1920. The U.S. Ahmadiyya movement is considered by some historians as one of the precursors to the Civil Rights Movement in America. The Community was the most influential Muslim community in African-American Islam until the 1950s. Today, there are approximately 15,000 to 20,000 American Ahmadi Muslims spread across the country.
