Islamic Foundation is a mosque located in Villa Park, Illinois. It was built in 1974 and was one of the largest mosques in the United States upon its completion. The mosque is connected to Islamic Foundation School, with which it is affiliated.

History

The organization that runs the mosque was founded in 1974, when it was registered with the State of Illinois as a non-profit organization. Through the organization, Islamic Foundation School would be established in 1988. By 1995, the local community had raised enough money to begin the construction of a new full mosque as part of the school. The mosque was completed in 1998 at a cost of $3.6 million. [1]

Mosque Maryam, also known as Muhammad Mosque #2 or Temple #2, is the headquarters of the Nation of Islam, located in Chicago, Illinois. It is at 7351 South Stony Island Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. Louis Farrakhan's headquarters are in the premises. The building was originally the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church before it relocated to suburban Palos Hills. Elijah Muhammad purchased the building in 1972. Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi had also lent Elijah Muhammad, his predecessor as head of the Nation of Islam, $3 million to convert the former Greek Orthodox church in Chicago into the Mosque Maryam.

Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis

The Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis (IFGSTL) is an Islamic organization composed of two mosques. The first mosque, Masjid Bilal, is located in midtown St. Louis, on W Pine Blvd, next to the campus of Saint Louis University. The second and larger mosque, Daar-Ul-Islam, is located in Ballwin, Missouri, at 517 Weidman Road, and includes an Islamic funeral home with 5 cemeteries and social services including job training and English classes. A donation charity known as Baitulmal that provides donated items and food to those in need is also hosted by IFGSTL.

Universal School is an Islamic, religious, K-12 private school, that is located in Bridgeview, Illinois, in the Chicago metropolitan area. Students take Islamic Studies, Arabic language, and Quran classes. The school motto is "Where Islam and Education come together." Universal School was officially founded in 1989, and opened on September 4, 1990 to 140 students and 11 faculty members.

Muhammad University of Islam

Muhammad University of Islam (MUI) is a Nation of Islam (NOI)-affiliated preschool to 12th Grade school in the South Shore area of Chicago, Illinois, United States, located next to Mosque Maryam. Every major NOI mosque has a MUI. The schools are headed by the Nation of Islam's Ministry of Education, led by Dr. Larry Muhammad. Established in 1930, MUI is the first Islamic Black school system in America.

American Society of Muslims Muslim organization in US

The American Society of Muslims was a predominantly African-American association of Muslims which was the direct descendant of the original Nation of Islam. It was created by Warith Deen Mohammed after he assumed leadership of the Nation of Islam upon the death of his father Elijah Muhammad. Imam W. Deen Mohammed changed the name of the Nation of Islam to the "World Community of Islam in the West" in 1976, then the "American Muslim Mission" in 1981, and finally the "American Society of Muslims".

The Noor Islamic Cultural Center (NICC) is a cultural center and mosque in Columbus, Ohio, USA. The building was started in 2001 and completed in 2006. NICC is the first Islamic center to become a polling place in Central Ohio. It is a center for Muslims. King Fahad Mosque (Culver City) Mosque in Los Angeles County, California

The King Fahad Mosque is a mosque located in Culver City, California in Los Angeles County, US. The mosque has a capacity of 2,000 worshippers, "a marble facade, hand made tiles from Turkey, and a 72-foot high (22 m) minaret topped with a gold leaf crescent". The complex on about 77,500 square feet (7,200 m2) of land also contains a lecture and meeting hall, "classrooms, research centers, a bookshop, a children’s playground, and a car park".
