Wunna Theikdi Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. It can seat 30,000 spectators. The stadium hosted the 2013 Southeast Asian Games and 2014 ASEAN Para Games opening and closing ceremonies. In addition, it hosted the events of 2015 National Sports Festival and 2018 ASEAN University Games. Currently, it is hosting state and region sports competitions. There are offices of Myanmar Olympic Committee and Department of Youth Affairs of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Aung Thu is a Burmese professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger for Thai League 1 club Lamphun Warriors and Myanmar national team. He has represented Myanmar internationally at under-17, under-20, under-23, and senior level. Representing Myanmar at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, he scored his debut World Cup goal against New Zealand national under-20 football team.

The 2015 AFF U-16 Youth Championship is the 10th edition of the AFF U-16 Youth Championship, organised by the ASEAN Football Federation. It will be hosted by Cambodia for the second time after the 2007 AFF U-17 Youth Championship. It will be played between 27 July to 9 August 2015. It was set to be hosted by Indonesia but they were suspended by FIFA in May 2015.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs administers Myanma sports and youth affairs. The ministry was formed in 1996 as Ministry of Sports and organized as Ministry of Health and Sports in 2016. In 2021, following the formation of caretaker government, the ministry was reorganized as Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The current union minister is Min Thein Zan, appointed by SAC Chairman Min Aung Hlaing.
