Myx Awards 2020 is the 15th installment of the Myx Music Awards, acknowledging the biggest hit makers of 2019 in the Philippine music industry. The awards were held virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. [1]

Contents

Nominees were announced on May 21, 2020 starting at 3:00 pm via Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube live streaming. [2] IV of Spades and Shanti Dope led the nominees with six nominations each. [3] For the ninth consecutive year, fans voted online through the Myx website. [3] Voting ended on July 10. [3]

A notable change made to the award system this year was the reduction in the total number of categories awarded, from 18 to 10.[ citation needed ]

The Myx Music Awards, currently known as the Myx Awards, are accolades presented by the cable channel Myx to honor the biggest hitmakers in the Philippines. The awards ceremony is held annually and occurs most commonly in March, and broadcast delayed on Myx. Myx viewers from all over the Philippines decide the winners in 17 major categories via SMS text messaging by 2010 it is 60% fan votes through internet and 40% artists votes.

Myx is an American pay TV channel based in Daly City, California with an office also in Redwood City, California targeting a multicultural audience. As a sister network to Myx (Philippines), it launched in the United States in 2007. MyxRadio launched in November 2019 as a radio station on Dash Radio & as a global podcast on Spotify, iHeartRadio & Apple iTunes in March 2020. A video on demand service for Myx shows is also available via iWantTFC and TFC IPTV.

He began his career as a contestant in first season of The Voice of the Philippines with a live performance of the James Bond film song "Skyfall" that went viral on youtube and earned him a record deal with MCA Music, a Universal Music label. Onesa advanced to the semi-finals under Bamboo Mañalac's team.

Iñigo Dominic Lazaro Pascual is a Filipino actor, singer and songwriter. He is popularly known for his 2016 hit single, "Dahil Sa'yo", the first number one song on Billboard Philippines' then-new Philippine Top 20 chart which also won "Song of the Year" at the 30th Awit Awards, the Philippine version of the Grammys. He is the son of actor Piolo Pascual.

Marydale Entrata, better known by her stage name Maymay Entrata, is a Filipino actress, singer, model and television host. Having achieved mainstream success across television, music and fashion, she came to prominence after winning the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7. She is the first Filipina to walk at the Arab Fashion Week. IV of Spades was a Filipino rock band from Metro Manila, Philippines, consisting of vocalist, bassist and keyboardist Zild Benitez, vocalist and lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, and drummer Badjao de Castro. Unique served as the band's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist until he left the band in 2018. The band first gained exposure with the release of their 4th single "Mundo". On August 21, 2020, the band entered an indefinite hiatus.

Zephanie Odhene Liwag Dimaranan, is a Filipino singer, actress and host. She is known as the winner of the first season of Idol Philippines. Dimaranan is dubbed as "This Generation's Pop Princess" in the country by various media outlets.

BGYO is a five-member Filipino boy band formed in 2018 by ABS-CBN Star Hunt Academy. The group debuted in 2021 under ABS-CBN's talent management arm, Star Magic. Dubbed as the Aces of P-pop, composed of Akira, Gelo, JL, Mikki, and Nate, the quintet co-writes several of their output and considers their Filipino roots as one of their assets, as evident in their music, songwriting and style. Their lyrics often focus on social issues relevant to younger generations, such as hope, youth empowerment and self-love.
