Nagwa Hussein Khalil was the Egyptian minister of social affairs and insurance. She was sworn into prime minister Hesham Qandil's cabinet on 2 August 2012,following the Egyptian revolution that deposed president Hosni Mubarak. [1] She was one of the independent ministers in the cabinet, [2] as well as only one of two women in the cabinet. [3]
Khalil obtained her PhD from the Cairo University,where her thesis was titled "The problems of Egyptian society following the Second World War." [4]
Khalil served as a member of a fact-finding committee which was mandated to investigate the violent events that occurred during the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. [4]
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Insurance was eliminated six years prior to the Egyptian revolution of 2011, [4] but was reinstated during the interim government [2] of the then prime minister Kamal Ganzouri. [3] Khalil served as the minister of social affairs and insurance in the Ganzouri's cabinet. [2] She continued to serve in this post as part of Qandil's Cabinet. On 2 August 2012,Khalil was sworn in. [1] Khalil's first statement after she was appointed was that she would work to increase pensions in Egypt. [4]
In late August,Khalil told Al-Masry Al-Youm that some members of the Muslim Brotherhood approached her to legalize a bill on civil society organizations,which would allow the Muslim Brotherhood to legalize its status and end controversy over the issue. However,Khalil said that they did not submit formal requests,because they feared that due to "the number of its members,sources of funding and unlawful objectives would be exposed." [5]
Kamal Ganzouri was an Egyptian economist who served as the Prime Minister of Egypt from 7 December 2011 to 24 July 2012. He previously served as prime minister from 1996 to 1999. He came to power in 1996 succeeding Atef Sedki,and was in turn succeeded by Atef Ebeid in 1999. He was branded Minister of the Poor and the Opposition Minister because of his way of dealing with limited income people and the opposition. Before becoming prime minister,Ganzouri served as Minister of Planning and International Cooperation. On 24 November 2011,Egypt's military rulers appointed him prime minister. He was sworn in and took office on 7 December 2011.

Kamal Khalil is an Egyptian engineer and labour activist. He is a leading member of the Revolutionary Socialists,a representative of the Workers Democratic Party and the founder and director of the Center for Socialist Studies in Cairo. He is a critic of the social democrats,youth parties and the Muslim Brotherhood in the post-Mubarak Egypt. He advocates more workers' unity,particularly in regions such as El-Mahalla El-Kubra,which has in the past been a center of industrial struggle by textile workers. Khalil has said Egypt's workers must create independent trade unions and a political party to represent them:"No party will represent the workers other than the workers' party itself." Prior to the Egyptian Revolution of 2011,Khalil had been arrested many times. In 2003,he was arrested by the State Security Investigations Service (SSI) and placed in solitary confinement for his role in the anti-war movement,causing the Stop the War Coalition in Britain to demonstrate outside the Egyptian Embassy in London.
Hesham Mohamed Qandil is an Egyptian engineer and civil servant who was Prime Minister of Egypt from 2012 to 2013. Qandil was appointed as Prime Minister by President Mohamed Morsi on 24 July 2012 and sworn in on 2 August 2012. Qandil previously served as Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation from 2011 to 2012.

On 24 February 2014,Beblawi announced his resignation.
The Freedom and Justice Party is an Egyptian Islamist political party. The ex-president of the party,Mohamed Morsi,won the 2012 presidential election,and in the 2011 parliamentary election it won more seats than any other party. It is nominally independent,but has strong links to the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt,the largest political group in Egypt. The party was banned and dissolved in 2014;however,it continues to function underground.
The National Alliance was an electoral alliance in Egypt that was established by former Egyptian prime minister Kamal Ganzouri;Ganzouri decided not to compete in the 2015 Egyptian parliamentary election. The spokesman for the Egyptian Front criticized the alliance for its inclusion of "Mubarak-era government ministers". The Egyptian Wafd Coalition declined an offer to join the alliance. The Arabic Popular Movement would have joined the alliance. Some of the individuals involved with the list included Mahmoud Badr and Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour.
