Personal life

Walker has two sons, Madison and Sam. [12] Walker is involved in Kirksville Rotary Club, Kirksville Arts Council, Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce, National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, Macon County Historical Society, Macon County FLywheel & Collectible Club, Macon Area Chamber of Commerce, Macon Elks Lodge, El Kadir Shrine Club, Ararat Shrine, and the Adair Masonic Lodge #366 AF & AM. Rebecca McClanahan is a former Democratic Representative of the second district of the Missouri House of Representatives, including parts of Putnam, Sullivan, and Adair counties. She was defeated in the 2010 general election by Zachary Wyatt. McClanahan is a lifelong nurse and educator. In 2012 she ran as a Democratic candidate for the newly created Missouri House 3rd district, but was defeated by Republican and former state representative Nate Walker.

In May 2012, Wyatt became, at that time, the nation's only openly gay Republican legislator. He "came out" during a press conference in the Missouri Capitol, while opposing the "Don't Say Gay" bill.

Craig Redmon is a Republican former member of the Missouri House of Representatives. He represented the 4th District, which encompasses all of Clark, Knox, Lewis, Schuyler, and Scotland counties as well as the eastern half of Adair County east of U.S Highway 63, excluding the city of Kirksville. Most of this was previously the Missouri 1st District, also represented by Redmon, prior to Missouri House redistricting due to the 2010 U.S. Census.

From 2013 to 2017, he represented District 20, which encompasses Polk and Montgomery counties. From 2011 to 2013, he was the representative for District 22. He was a Republican prior to 2015.

These six off-year races featured special elections to the 113th United States Congress to fill vacancies due to resignations in the United States House of Representatives. Two were due to Congressmen taking seats in the United States Senate, one resigned to take jobs in the private sector, one resigned to take a job in the public sector, and one resigned due to an impending federal indictment regarding misuse of campaign funds.
