The National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) is a non-profit organization consisting of state treasurers or comparable senior finance officials from U.S. states, commonwealths, territories, and the District of Columbia. NAST was established in 1976, and is headquartered in Washington, DC.
The National Association of State Treasurers provides education and advocacy support to its members, allowing them to network and share best practices in the administration of financial policies and programs.
This support takes the form of in-person educational opportunities at conferences and remote learning through a webinar program. Members also communicate throughout the year through a variety of committees, publications, and policy advocacy that provide information about developments in public finance. The advocacy efforts of the organization are directed by member resolutions.
Membership consists of all state treasurers and comparable public finance officials across the United States. To build professional relationships and foster cooperation between the public and private sectors, the corporate affiliate program was created to represent the private sector interests.
NAST exists to assist state treasurers in influencing public policy at both the state and federal levels. It serves as an educational association for both treasurers and treasury staff, promoting standards of excellence regarding ethical conduct, policy guidelines and accountability and model legislation and regulations. NAST is led by an executive committee which is staffed by constitutional requirements and voted upon during the Annual Business meeting at the Annual Conference. The principal officer of the committee is the NAST President who is responsible for taking action necessary to carry out the program of the association as fixed by the association and the national executive committee. The other members of the committee include the Senior Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Immediate Past President, the four regional presidents, chairs from SDMN, CSPN, and NAUPA, the Legislative Committee Chair, and the Corporate Affiliate Advisory Board chair. Educational opportunities are provided for members at a variety of conferences through the year. These allow members to discuss innovative practices, learn from best practice examples, network with peers, and hear from a variety of subject matter experts.
Legislative Conference
Members come together to discuss legislative priorities and other advocacy issues at the annual legislative conference held in Washington each spring.
Treasury Management Training Symposium
The Treasury Management Training Symposium, NAST's largest conference, allows treasury staff and private sector members to take a deeper look into issues facing state treasuries.
National Institute of Public Finance
A joint partnership between the NAST Foundation and the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, The National Institute of Public Finance (NIPF) undertakes a wide range of initiatives including conducting professional development, research, strategic planning, and policy advocacy in areas related to public treasury management. The NIPF meeting occurs biennially, with the next conference scheduled for 2019.
Annual Conference
NAST's final conference of the year, the Annual Conference holds NAST's Annual Business meeting along with educational panels and social events.

The Linguistic Society of America (LSA) is a learned society for the field of linguistics. Founded in New York City in 1924, the LSA works to promote the scientific study of language. The society publishes three scholarly journals: Language, the open access journal Semantics and Pragmatics, and the open access journal Phonological Data & Analysis. Its annual meetings, held every winter, foster discussion amongst its members through the presentation of peer-reviewed research, as well as conducting official business of the society. Since 1928, the LSA has offered training to linguists through courses held at its biennial Linguistic Institutes held in the summer. The LSA and its 3,600 members work to raise awareness of linguistic issues with the public and contribute to policy debates on issues including bilingual education and the preservation of endangered languages.
The Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA) is an independent, non-governmental organisation devoted to the advancement of knowledge and research in the social sciences. It has its origins in the Social Science Research Council of Australia, founded in 1942.

The group's membership also includes non-union, community-based activists. Its predecessor organization was known as the National Council of Senior Citizens (NCSC).
James Braxton Powell served as the State Treasurer of Virginia from January, 2006 to December 2008. He was appointed by Governor Tim Kaine. Prior to his appointment as State Treasurer, he had served since January, 2002, as Deputy State Treasurer under Governor Mark Warner.
Brian K. Krolicki is an American businessman and politician. He was the 33rd Lieutenant Governor of Nevada, from 2007 to 2015. As the Lieutenant Governor, he presided over the Nevada State Senate, chaired the Commission on Tourism, and served on the State Board of Transportation and the Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition. Previously, he served two terms as the Nevada State Treasurer. He is a member of the Republican Party. Krolicki was not eligible to run for a third term in 2014 due to lifetime term limits by the Nevada Constitution.

The group banded in 1899 under the motto “Cooperation solves any problem” to reflect the organizers’ combined purposes: exchange of information, shared learning, development of unified policies on matters of municipal concern, and to form a collective voice on matters including home rule for local government.
Young Jacob Boozer III, served as the 39th State Treasurer of Alabama from 2011 to 2019. He was elected to his first four-year term on November 2, 2010 and was unopposed and reelected for a second term on November 4, 2014. He left office on January 14, 2019. As State Treasurer, Boozer was responsible for the cash management duties of receiving, depositing and investing all state funds, bond management, unclaimed property, two college savings programs, the Enable Savings Plan Alabama and management of the state's collateral pool for public funds deposits. He played an essential role in managing the Alabama Trust Fund (ATF), Alabama's $3 billion investment fund built from the proceeds of the sale of the state's offshore oil and gas reserves. Boozer led the successful effort to restructure and save the Alabama Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Program (PACT).

It also recommends individuals to be conferred the Order of National Scientist upon approval of the President of the Philippines.
