Naveen Chandra (born 3 December 1982) is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema, alongside few Tamil films. [1]

Early life

Naveen Chandra was born in a Telugu family in Devi Nagar, Ballari. [2] His father was a head mechanic at KSRTC. Chandra obtained a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and worked as a multimedia animator before he forayed into films. [2]

Career

Chandra made his debut as a hero in Telugu with the movie Sambhavami Yuge Yuge under the stage name Anji in the year 2006, and later acted in the movie Kalyanam under the stage name Chandu. Chandra made his debut as a hero in Tamil with Pazhaniappa Kalloori under the stage name Pradeep. [3] His next film Agarathi never saw a theatrical release. [4] In 2012, he starred in the Telugu movie Andala Rakshasi which garnered him positive responses from viewers and critics for his performance in his role as Surya. [5] He shot for the Tamil film Therodum Veedhiyile with Payal Ghosh in 2012.

In the bilingual film Dalam , Chandra played an ex-naxalite who struggles to return to a normal life. For his role in Sathyashiva's Sivappu , he lived incognito as a labourer in his friend's construction company for two weeks in order to get into his character. The film also released in 2014. [6] He was also signed as the second lead in the Tamil film Brahman . [7] [8] He was signed on for the lead role in producer C. V. Kumar's Sarabam. He next appeared in Miss India starring Keerthy Suresh under the direction of Narendra Nath.

He played pivotal roles in Month of Madhu [9] and Jigarthanda DoubleX [10] that released in 2023.

He will be next seen in an untitled film bankrolled by UV Creations where he pairs alongside Rashi Singh. [11]

Jigarthanda (transl. Cold-hearted) is a 2016 Indian Kannada-language action comedy film directed by Shiva Ganesh, written by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kichcha Creations and SRV Productions. It is a remake of Subbaraj's 2014 Tamil film of same name which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean movie A Dirty Carnival. It stars Rahul Salanke and Samyukta Hornad along with P. Ravi Shankar, Chikkanna, Dharma, K. Manju, Guruprasad, Sadhu Kokila and Veena Sundar in supporting roles. Arjun Janya composed film's score and soundtrack. It was released on 24 June 2016.

Jigarthanda DoubleX is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and jointly produced by him, Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, S. Kathiresan and Alankar Pandian under Stone Bench Films, Five Star Creations and Invenio Origin. The film is a prequel to Jigarthanda (2014) and stars Raghava Lawrence, S. J. Suryah, Nimisha Sajayan, Ilavarasu, Sathyan, Naveen Chandra, Shine Tom Chacko and Aravind Akash. Set in the 1970s, it revolves around an upcoming policeman trying to kill a gangster by going undercover as a filmmaker.

<i>Eleven</i> (upcoming film) Indian Tamil-Telugu bilingual thriller film

Eleven is an upcoming 2025 Indian Telugu-Tamil bilingual crime thriller film directed by Lokkesh Ajls. The film stars Naveen Chandra in the lead role opposite Reyaa Hari who is also the producer of the film along with Ajmal Khan under the AR Entertainment banner. The film also includes Shashank, Abhirami, Dileepan, Riythvika and Aadukalam Naren in supporting roles. The film has music composed by D. Imman, cinematography handled by Karthik Ashokan and editing by N. B. Srikanth.

The music for the 2014 Tamil-language crime drama film Jigarthanda (transl. cold-hearted) is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The film directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by S. Kathiresan, stars Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran and Guru Somasundaram. The music for the film released under two different albums—one contains the original songs which had lyrics written by Muthamil, Arunraja Kamaraj, Anthony Daasan, Pradeep Kumar and Sean Roldan, and the other contained several cues of original music underscored in the background. The first album was released on March 2014, five months before the film's theatrical release with the second album being unveiled after the film's release. Both the albums were distributed under the Think Music label. Santhosh's work met with acclaim, both from critics and audiences, regarding it as one of his best works.
