Neanthophylax tenebrosus is the species of the Lepturinae subfamily in long-horned beetle family. [1] This beetle is distributed in United States. [1] Adult beetle feeds on mountain hemlock, and red fir. [1]
There are three subspecies in species: [1]
John Lawrence LeConte was an American entomologist of the 19th century, responsible for naming and describing approximately half of the insect taxa known in the United States during his lifetime, including some 5,000 species of beetles. He was recognized as the foremost authority on North American beetles during his lifetime, and has been described as "the father of American beetle study."
Moneilema, or cactus longhorn beetles are a genus of large, flightless, black beetles found in North American deserts of the western United States and northern Mexico. M. gigas is native to the Sonoran desert at elevations below 4900 feet (1500m). The front wings of these beetles are fused forming a single, hardened shell, from which the genus derives its Latin name. The genus includes twenty species.
Lepturinae, the lepturine beetles, is a subfamily of the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae), containing about 150 genera worldwide. This lineage is most diverse in the Northern Hemisphere. Until recently the subfamily Necydalinae was included within the lepturines, but this has been recently recognized as a separate subfamily. Nine tribes are usually recognized today, with a tenth, Caraphiini, created in 2016. A few genera are of uncertain placement within the subfamily.
Discoderus is a genus of beetles in the family Carabidae, containing the following species:
Chaetocnema is a genus of flea beetles in the family Chrysomelidae. There are at least 50 described species in Chaetocnema.
Xylotrechus a genus of longhorned beetles of the family Cerambycidae, containing some 200 described species.
Lophoglossus is a genus of beetles in the family Carabidae, containing the following species:
Neanthophylax is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Stenocorus is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Phymatodes is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Hyboderini is a tribe of beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae, containing the following genera and species:
Trachyderini is a tribe of long-horned beetles in the family Cerambycidae. There are at least 140 genera and 650 described species in Trachyderini.
Crossidius is a genus of beetles in the family Cerambycidae, containing the following species:
Epicauta is a genus of beetles in the blister beetle family, Meloidae. The genus was first scientifically described in 1834 by Pierre François Marie Auguste Dejean. Epicauta is distributed nearly worldwide, with species native to all continents except Australia and Antarctica. Surveys have found the genus to be particularly diverse in northern Arizona in the United States. Few species occur in the Arctic, with none farther north than the southern Northwest Territory of Canada.
Berosus is a genus of beetles in the family Hydrophilidae, the water scavenger beetles. The genus contains 273 species. It is distributed worldwide.
Lytta is a genus of blister beetles in the family Meloidae. There are about 70 described species in North America, and over 100 species worldwide.
Magdalis is a genus of wedge-shaped bark weevils in the family Curculionidae. There are at least 20 described species in Magdalis.
Limnichidae, commonly called minute marsh-loving beetles, is a beetle family in the order Coleoptera. There are at least 30 genera and 350 described species in Limnichidae.
Harpalitae is a supertribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are at least 90 genera and 460 described species in Harpalitae.
