Nemoria mimosaria, the white-fringed emerald or flanged looper, is a moth of the family Geometridae. It is found from Nova Scotia to south-eastern Alberta, south to Virginia, Illinois, and Texas.
Moths comprise a group of insects related to butterflies, belonging to the order Lepidoptera. Most lepidopterans are moths, and there are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth, many of which have yet to be described. Most species of moth are nocturnal, but there are also crepuscular and diurnal species.

Alberta and its neighbour Saskatchewan were districts of the Northwest Territories until they were established as provinces on September 1, 1905. The premier has been Rachel Notley since 2015.
The wingspan is about 26 mm. Adults are on wing from mid to late June.
The wingspan of a bird or an airplane is the distance from one wingtip to the other wingtip. For example, the Boeing 777-200 has a wingspan of 60.93 metres, and a wandering albatross caught in 1965 had a wingspan of 3.63 metres, the official record for a living bird. The larvae feed on various deciduous shrubs and trees and conifer trees, including Betula papyrifera , Abies balsamifera , Salix , Alnus , and Myrica asplenifolia .
Betula papyrifera is a short-lived species of birch native to northern North America. Paper birch is named due to the thin white bark which often peels in paper like layers from the trunk. Paper birch is often one of the first species to colonize a burned area within the northern latitudes and an important species for moose browse. The wood is often used for pulpwood and firewood.
