Vanguard Press

The Vanguard Press (1926–1988) was a United States publishing house established with a $100,000 grant from the left wing American Fund for Public Service, better known as the Garland Fund. Throughout the 1920s, Vanguard Press issued an array of books on radical topics, including studies of the Soviet Union, socialist theory, and politically oriented fiction by a range of writers. The press ultimately received a total of $155,000 from the Garland Fund, which separated itself and turned the press over to its publisher, James Henle. Henle became sole owner in February 1932.

The Atlanta Braves, a current Major League Baseball franchise, originated in Boston, Massachusetts. This article details the history of the Boston Braves, from 1871 to 1952, after which they moved to Milwaukee to become the Milwaukee Braves, and then eventually to Atlanta to become the Atlanta Braves. The Boston franchise played at South End Grounds from 1871 to 1914 and at Braves Field from 1915 to 1952. Braves Field is now Nickerson Field of Boston University. The Česká Lípa 5th electoral district was a parliamentary constituency in Czechoslovakia. It was one of two parliamentary constituencies with an overwhelming ethnic German majority amongst the voters. The Česká Lípa 5th electoral district elected 13 members of the Chamber of Deputies. In February 1921, the Czechoslovak authorities estimated that the electoral district had a total population of 564,449.

Doris Fuchs American gymnast

Doris Gudrun Fuchs is a retired American gymnast who won four gold medals at the 1963 Pan American Games. She competed in all artistic gymnastics events at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics and finished ninth with the American team three times: all-around in both games and in the team portable apparatus in 1956. Her best individual result was eighth place on uneven bars in 1960. Fuchs attended the 1964 Olympics as a reserve. In 1982 she was inducted into the U.S. Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
