The Nicaragua men's national basketball team is the national basketball team in Nicaragua. They have yet to appear in the FIBA World Cup. However, they will make their debut at the FIBA AmeriCup as host in 2025.

Contents

It is managed by the Federación Nicaraguense de Baloncesto (FENIBALON). [2]

Nicaragua's greatest accomplishment has been the silver medal at the 2017 Central American Games. Nicaragua won all games until they reached the final where they ceded to Panama 59-72, despite the support of 8,000 fans at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello. [3]

Roger Muñoz, is a Nicaraguan professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Leones de la Alcaldia club of the Liga Nicaragüense de Baloncesto in Nicaragua.

Amaury Apolinar Filion Fernández is a Dominican former professional basketball player. A left-handed 2.06 m forward-center, Filion debuted in 1997 with Mauricio Báez, a club of Santo Domingo. He then moved to the United States, where he played at Artesia High School in Lakewood, California before going back to the Dominican Republic. Throughout his 20-year professional career, Filion has played in the Dominican Republic, France, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela; in 2007 he was named the LIDOBA Finals MVP. A long-time member of the Dominican national team, he won the silver medal at the 2003 Pan American Games and the gold medal at the 2004 Centrobasket.

José Luis Dámaso Martinez is a Spanish international professional basketball coach. He has coached professionally in Spain, Nicaragua and recently in El Salvador with A.D. Isidro Metapán and Quezaltepeque Basketball Club. Currently, he is the head coach of the Liga Municipal Monsenor Romero female team. The team competes out of Santa Ana, El Salvador in La Liga Mayor de Baloncesto Femenino.
