Nil Tun Maung (30 September 1931 – 20 July 2024) was a Burmese weightlifter. He competed at the 1952 Summer Olympics, the 1956 Summer Olympics and the 1960 Summer Olympics. [1] Maung died in Yangon on 20 July 2024, at the age of 92. [2]

Tuvalu competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which was held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The country's participation at London marked its second appearance in the Summer Olympics since its debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The delegation consisted of three competitors: two short-distance runners, Tavevele Noa and Asenate Manoa, and one weightlifter, Tuau Lapua Lapua. All three qualified for the games through wildcard places because they did not meet the qualification standards. Lapua was the flag bearer for the opening ceremony while Manoa carried it at the closing ceremony. Noa and Manoa failed to advance beyond the preliminary rounds of their events although the latter established a new national record for the women's 100 metres, while Lapua placed 12th in the men's featherweight weightlifting competition.

Norbert Schemansky was an American weightlifter. He was the first weightlifter to win four Olympic medals, despite missing the 1956 Summer Olympics due to back problems. He won a silver medal in the 1948 Summer Olympic Games, a gold in the 1952 Summer Olympics and bronzes in the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics.

Oleksandr Yuriyovych Pielieshenko was a Ukrainian weightlifter. He was the 2016 and 2017 European Champion. He also competed for Ukraine at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Pielieshenko was killed in action during the Russo-Ukrainian War, at the age of 30.

Aung Maung Gyi is a retired Burmese weightlifter. He won a silver medal at the 1974 Asian Games and set two world record in the snatch, in 1970 and 1972. At the 1972 Summer Olympics he placed fifth.

Deyse Jurdelina de Castro was a Brazilian sprinter. She competed in the women's 200 metres at the 1952 Summer Olympics. De Castro died in February 2024, at the age of 90.

Bedřiška Kulhavá was a Czech middle-distance runner. She competed for Czechoslovakia in the women's 800 metres at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Her daughter Jana Kulhava-Vápeniková competed in biathlon at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Kulhavá died on 20 February 2024, at the age of 92.

Eric Nils Nilsson was a Swedish middle-distance runner. He competed in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He died on 13 June 2024, at the age of 97.

Gerti Fesl was an Austrian gymnast. She competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics and the 1952 Summer Olympics. Fesl died on 27 January 2024, at the age of 92.

Ajit Singh Gill was a Singaporean field hockey player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Gill died on 16 January 2024, at the age of 95.

Maung Win Maung was a Burmese weightlifter. He competed in the men's bantamweight event at the 1948 Summer Olympics.

Thong Saw Pak was a Singaporean weightlifter. He competed in the men's lightweight event at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Thong died in England on 4 October 2015, at the age of 91.

Tun Maung Kywe was a Burmese weightlifter. He competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics and the 1960 Summer Olympics. He died on 20 July 2024, at the age of 92.
