No Time for Dreaming is the debut studio album by American soul singer Charles Bradley. It was released on January 25, 2011, by Daptone Records and Dunham Records.
The album's first single, "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)", was released on December 14, 2010. [1] The album's second single, "Heart of Gold", was released on May 3, 2011. [2] It is a cover of Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young's "Heart of Gold". [3]

No Time for Dreaming was met with generally positive reviews. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 79, based on 14 reviews. [5] Aggregator AnyDecentMusic? gave it 6.5 out of 10, based on their assessment of the critical consensus. [4]
Hal Horowitz of AllMusic said, "Retro-soul aficionados who claim they don't make 'em like they used to will obviously be thrilled with this, but even contemporary R&B fans can't help but be moved by the emotion and passion evident in every note of this riveting set". [6] Benjamin Boles of Now said, "While it took a little while for the magic to finally get laid down to tape, the results are worth the wait". [9] Mike Madden of PopMatters said, "You don't need to know his back story to fall in love with Bradley—the music speaks for itself. This album has been a looooong time coming, but it's more than worth the wait". [11] Max Blau of Paste said, "No Time for Dreaming not only prevails as a defining culmination of Bradley's lifelong musicianship to date, but also furthers the argument that Daptone Records can do no wrong". Josh Modell of Spin said, "No Time for Dreaming wails in a world of "Heartaches and Pain" (see the memorable closing track), but Bradley's despair is never less than stirring". [14] J. Arthur Bloom of Tiny Mix Tapes said, "The Menahan Street Band realizes the vision of No Time for Dreaming, with Brenneck at the helm. More Memphis than Detroit, they're always present but never pretentious". [13] Phil Johnson of The Independent said, "Bradley, a 62-year-old ex-plumber and James Brown impersonator, has a raspy, infinitely pained voice but there doesn't appear to be any real interaction between him and the band". Power, Corruption & Lies is the second studio album by English rock band New Order, released on 2 May 1983 by Factory Records. The Colour and the Shape is the second studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters, released on May 20, 1997, through Roswell and Capitol Records. Menahan Street Band is a Brooklyn, New York-based instrumental band formed in 2007, that plays funk and soul music. The band features musicians from Antibalas, El Michels Affair, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and the Budos Band. The group was founded by Thomas Brenneck while living in an apartment on Menahan Street in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick. Their debut album, Make the Road by Walking, was released in 2008 on Dunham, a sublabel of Daptone Records.
I Dreamed a Dream is the debut studio album by Scottish singer Susan Boyle. It was released on 23 November 2009 by Syco Music in the United Kingdom, and by Columbia Records in the United States one day later. Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection is a reissue of American singer-songwriter Katy Perry's third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010). It was released on March 23, 2012, by Capitol Records, nearly two years after the original album. Perry collaborated with producers including Tricky Stewart to refine leftover material from the recording sessions at Playback Recording Studio for Teenage Dream. The final product features three newly recorded songs, which incorporate pop styles previously seen in the original album, an acoustic version of "The One That Got Away" and three additional official remixes.

He became known as the leader of the Menahan Street Band and a member of The Budos Band, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and El Michels Affair. He is the founder of Dunham Records, a subsidiary of seminal retro-soul label Daptone Records; he was the producer of soul singer Charles Bradley. As a producer and session musician, he frequently works with Daptone and Big Crown Records artists.
