Qubudile Richard Dyantyi has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly since 2019. Before that,he was a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament and served as the Western Cape's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Local Government and Housing from 2005 to 2008. In 2021,he was elected chairperson of the national parliament's Committee for the Section 194 Enquiry into Busisiwe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office.
The Eastern Cape province of South Africa is governed in a parliamentary system in which the people elect the provincial legislature and the legislature,in turn,elects the Premier as head of the executive. The Premier leads an Executive Council consisting of members who oversee various executive departments. The structure of the provincial government is defined by chapter six of the Constitution of South Africa.
The 2021 South African municipal elections were held on 1 November 2021,to elect councils for all district,metropolitan and local municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces. It is the sixth municipal election held in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994,held every five years. The previous municipal elections were held in 2016. On 21 April 2021,President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the elections will be held on Wednesday,27 October 2021. It had been recommend by Dikgang Moseneke to delay the municipal elections until 2022. The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) requested the Constitutional Court to support the date postponement. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supported the date postponement while the Democratic Alliance (DA) was against the postponement of the date. The Constitutional Court dismissed the application to postpone the date until 2022,ruling that they had to take place between 27 October and 1 November. On 9 September 2021,the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma announced that the elections would be held on 1 November.
Wendy Joy Nelson is a South African politician from the North West. She was the North West Finance,Economy and Enterprise Development MEC from 2015 to 2018,and the North West Tourism MEC from 2018 to 2019. She was also a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress (ANC) from 2014 to 2019. She briefly served as the acting Premier of North West in 2018. She was a Member of the National Assembly from 2009 to 2014. Nelson had also been involved in the local politics of the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality.
Reinette Liebenberg is a South African politician,who was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in the 2019 general election. She is one of eight Democratic Alliance representatives in the provincial legislature. Liebenberg was a councillor of the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality before she was elected to the provincial legislature.
Alexandra Jennifer Beukes is a South African politician who has been a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly since 12 June 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly,she was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and the mayor of the Khâi-Ma Local Municipality. Beukes is a member of the African National Congress.
Pumza Patricia Dyantyi was a South African politician and anti-apartheid activist. A member of the African National Congress,Dyantyi was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014. She served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health from 2014 to 2018,when she was appointed MEC for Social Development. From 2019 Dyantyi was a member of the South African National Assembly.
Sheilla Tembalam Xego is a South African politician,educator and trade unionist from the Eastern Cape who has been a member of the National Assembly since 2011. Prior to entering parliament,she was a councillor of the Mbhashe Local Municipality from 2000 to 2006 and the Amathole District Municipality from 2006 to 2010. Xego is a member of the African National Congress.

The Amahlathi Local Municipality council consists of thirty members elected by mixed-member proportional representation. Fifteen councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in fifteen wards,while the remaining fifteen are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received. Zukisa Cheryl Faku is a South African politician and convicted fraudster from the Eastern Cape. A member of the African National Congress,Faku had served as the mayor of the Buffalo City Local Municipality. In 2013 she was elected to take up a seat in the National Council of Provinces. The following year,she was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa. Faku was convicted of fraud in 2016 but remained a Member of Parliament. She resigned from parliament shortly after her re-election in 2019.
Nkome Sarah Monyamane is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature since 2019. She was formerly the Mayor of Mookgophong Local Municipality from 2011 to 2016.
