Norbury is in the Stockport district, in the county of Greater Manchester, England. A civil parish in Cheshire from 1866 to 1900, it now forms part of Hazel Grove in the metropolitan borough of Stockport.
Norbury was formerly a township and chapelry in the parish of [[Stockport], [1] in 1866 Norbury became a separate civil parish, Norbury was one of the eight parishes of Cheshire to be included in the Stockport rural sanitary district in 1875. From 1894 it formed part of the Stockport Rural District. On 30 September 1900 the parish was abolished and it became part of the Hazel Grove and Bramhall civil parish and urban district. [2] In 1891 the parish had a population of 1495. [3] Hazel Grove and Bramhall was abolished in 1974 and Norbury has since formed part of the metropolitan borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester. The Rivers Goyt and Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. It is the main settlement of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. In 2011 it had a population of 137,130.

Stepping Hill was an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, England, created for the 2004 Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council election. It elected three councillors to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council using the first past the post electoral method, electing one councillor every year without election on the fourth. The ward was abolished in boundary changes before the 2023 Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council election and split up, with the largest part of it going to the new ward of Norbury & Woodsmoor. Parts of Great Moor and Little Moor within the ward were moved into the Offerton ward, and a small area into the Hazel Grove ward.
The ceremonial county of Cheshire, which comprises the unitary authorities of Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton and Warrington, returned 11 MPs to the UK Parliament from 1997 to 2024.
