North-West College is a private for-profit system of colleges in California. North-West College offers diploma, associate degree and certification programs at each of its seven campuses throughout the Los Angeles and Riverside areas. North-West College was established in 1966 by Marsha Fuerst. Fuerst's family has been involved in the allied health field since the early 1950s. North-West College continues to be owned and operated by the Fuerst family. [1]

History

North-West College was founded in 1966 by Marsha Fuerst. On October 10, 1966 North-West College opened its doors with two classes and 43 students. North-West College was founded by the Fuerst family matriarch Marsha Fuerst.

In mid-2013, NWC came to the aid of Southern California-based Newbridge College when the U.S. Department of Education approved a deal known as a "teach out" which allows NWC to keep the Long Beach and Santa Ana Campuses open and continue offering career training programs for the current students. The college is expected to remain open for at least two more years as part of an agreement with North-West College and the Department of Education to ensure current student matriculation and to assist others in the area. In August 1990, the school was the site of a shooting in which an administrator was killed and two students were wounded. Reputed local gang member Martin Meza allegedly entered the campus and was thought to be looking for a student with whom he had been living. While on campus, Meza fatally shot an employee who had just been promoted from instructor to placement director and wounded two students. [3] It was later learned that the student drove the getaway car. Meza was arrested but escaped from a Mexicali jail. [4]

Everest College is a system of colleges in the United States, and with Wyotech, make up Zenith Education. It was until 2015 a system of for-profit colleges in the United States and the Canadian province of Ontario, owned and operated by Corinthian Colleges, Inc. In 2015, Corinthian ceased operating and filed for bankruptcy. While most Corinthian-owned colleges were closed in early 2015, Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC), a non-profit, took ownership of more than half of Corinthian Colleges' campuses, including many Everest College campuses. As of 2016, 19 ECMC-owned Everest locations remain in operation. At least 10 more campuses were closed or in the process of closing in 2016.

The California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE) was a unit of the California Department of Consumer Affairs whose purpose was to protect students by establishing academic standards for private institutions of higher education in California. BPPVE approval or exemption was required by the State of California to ensure consumer safety from fraudulent or substandard education providers. The agency ceased operation on July 1, 2007, when the legislative authority for its creation expired. A new agency, the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, took its place on January 1, 2010.

California Southern University

California Southern University is a private, for-profit, university in Costa Mesa, California. It offers associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs online in psychology, business and management, risk management and regulatory compliance, criminal justice, nursing, and education.

SAE Expression College is a private for-profit college specializing in programs in the entertainment industry and located in Emeryville, California. It offers an around-the-clock schedule and eight week terms. It awards Bachelor's degrees after 36 months of accelerated education.

Hussian College is a private art school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Established in 1946, it offers only one degree, the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). It has a campus in Los Angeles, the Studio School.

UEI College is a private for-profit career college with locations in the U.S. states of California, Arizona, and Georgia. It specializes in short-term technical and vocational education to prepare students for entry-level positions in industries such as healthcare, business, and skilled trades. UEI College is owned by International Education Corporation. The school was founded in 1982 as United Education Institute and changed its name to UEI College in 2009.

Fashion Careers College (FCC) was a for-profit college located in San Diego, California, United States, established to provide a collegiate-level education for students seeking careers in the fashion industry. Founded by Patricia O'Connor in 1979, the college closed in January 2013.

American Career College is a private, for profit vocational college that specializes in health care training programs. It was founded by David Pyle in 1978. American Career College offers both Diploma and associate degree programs through three campuses in the Los Angeles metro area.

Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology (Spartan) is a private for-profit aviation college in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was originally established to provide pilot and technicians for Spartan Aircraft Company but outlived its parent company and continues to train pilots and mechanics into the 21st Century. ICDC College

ICDC College was a private for-profit, post-secondary education career college. ICDC College had Four Southern California campuses and an online campus. The college closed in 2016 and Trident University International has agreed to continue instruction of ICDC's current academic programs.

Glendale Career College

Glendale Career College is a private, for-profit college in Glendale, California. It was established in 1946 by Dr. Byron Prout. It is now owned and operated by the Fuerst family of Success Education Colleges.

Nevada Career Institute

Nevada Career Institute is a for-profit technical college in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nevada Career Institute is owned and operated by the Fuerst family of Success Education Colleges.

CNI College is an allied health vocational college in Santa Ana, California. The main campus is located in the City of Orange.
