Synonyms [2]

Nurteria is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, found in the Afrotropical realm. [1] Three species are currently known in the genus, but there are also numerous undescribed species of the genus from southern Africa. It was originally described in the subfamily Diaphorinae, though it possesses some features of the Sympycninae. [4] [5]

The genus was originally described by Octave Parent in 1934 with the name Turneria, including two species. A third species was described by Parent in 1935. Dyte & Smith (1980) found that the name of the genus was preoccupied by the ant genus Turneria , and so they renamed it to Nurteria, designating one of Parent's originally included species as the type. According to Neal Evenhuis in 2008, the original use of the name Turneria by Parent (1934) is a nomen nudum , because no type species was designated for the genus. The name later became available in Parent (1935), where the only species included becomes the type species by monotypy. [2]

Anasyntormon is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It was originally placed in the subfamily Rhaphiinae near Syntormon. It was transferred to Dolichopodinae by Hans Ulrich (1980), who found it to be congeneric or closely related to Hercostomus.

Asyndetus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. There are more than 100 species described for the genus, distributed worldwide.

Chrysosoma is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is a large genus, with more than 200 species distributed in the Old World and Oceania.

Cymatopus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. Members of the genus are found on rocky coasts of the Indo-West Pacific.

Lichtwardtia Genus of flies

Lichtwardtia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is known from the Afrotropical, Oriental and Australasian realms. It can be recognised by its zigzag-shaped M vein on the wings, and its feather-like hairs on the apex segment of the antennae. In a phylogenetic analysis of the subfamily Dolichopodinae by Scott E. Brooks in 2005, Lichtwardtia is considered to be a synonym of Dolichopus, but subsequent authors have retained it as a valid genus.

Micromorphus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.

Olegonegrobovia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, known from Africa. It was first established in 1995 by Igor Grichanov, who named it after the Russian entomologist Oleg Negrobov. It was synonymised with Teuchophorus by Meuffels & Grootaert in 2004, but is considered a separate genus by Grichanov & Mostovski (2008). A molecular phylogenetic analysis from 2010 found support for the synonymy of Olegonegrobovia with Teuchophorus.

Palaeoargyra is an extinct genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, known from Baltic amber. It contains only one species, Palaeoargyra mutabilis. It was originally proposed as a subgenus of Argyra, but was later considered a separate genus.

Tenuopus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is the only genus in the subfamily Tenuopodinae, which was created by Igor Grichanov in 2018. The genus was previously placed in the subfamily Neurigoninae, and it also shares some features of Peloropeodinae and Sciapodinae. All species are known from the Afrotropical realm.

According to Capellari & Grichanov (2012), Aphasmaphleps more closely resembles Asyndetus and Cryptophleps.
