Ogui is an autonomous community in Nike, in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State in the southeastern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It comprises Umunevo Village, Ihewuzi Village and Onuato Village. [1] Ogui Nike, as it is usually called, is a major landlord to the administrative, political and economic hub of Enugu City, in that major public and private institutions, shopping malls, hotels, banks and so on are situated on Ogui land.

Government

Ogui practices the monarchical system of government where there is an Igwe who rules over the community, followed by elders and chiefs as well as other titled individuals and groups. In Ogui, governance takes root from the family extending into lineages, the villages and the general assembly. In the general assembly, the Igwe and the elders and chiefs occupy the hierarchy in the community leadership and followed by other groups responsible for enforcement of community laws. Notable groups include Ogui Town Union, Otu Ugobueze (women's group), Otu Ogbo (age groups), etc.

Infrastructure

Ogui has a functional road system, adequate sources of water and street lights. There are well equipped and functional Health Centres. Notable amongst them are Asata Health Centre and Ogui Nike Health Centre. Located in the heart of the town is the Afia Nine Square used as a venue for ceremonies, recreational and festival activities.

Economy

The growth of the Ogui economy is facilitated by its people who have various livelihoods that cut across both formal and informal occupations. The economy is also enhanced by the presence of a number of public and private entities situated in Ogui.

He subsequently served as a People's Democratic Party (PDP) Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2019.

Okija is the largest town in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State in Southeast Nigeria. The town is the oldest of all the towns in Ihiala local government area, and one of the biggest towns in Igboland. The people of Okija are predominantly Christians. Okija is the home to Madonna University and Legacy University. Nike Community, in Enugu East, Enugu State Nigeria. It has borders with Nsukka, Ebonyi and Enugu North and is one of the state's largest zones, featuring several tourist sites and commercial areas, including Nikelake Hotels. The community is under the monarchical leadership of HRM, IGWE. NNAJI. The region comprises 24 villages. They are subject to the authority of Enugu East of Enugu state, Nigeria.

Akiyi is an autonomous community in Umulokpa, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area (LGA), Enugu State, Nigeria. It has Seven (7) villages namely: Enugwu, Enugwu-Uwani, Imama, Nkwelle, Ukpali, Uwani and Uwenu.

Neke is a town located in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State in South Eastern Nigeria. Bordered by towns such as Nike, Ikem, Mbu, Eha Amufu, Obollo and UmuAlor, Neke is a small town with a strong backbone. In the pre-colonial era, the people of Neke were known as fearsome warriors who had an economic stronghold on neighboring areas. In the present day, there are 5 main districts located in Neke namely; Ishienu, Akpani, ObeguAba, Umugwu and Umuegwu. These districts represent villages made up of clans and kindred prominent to the town's social structure.

The 2019 Enugu State gubernatorial election was held on 9 March 2019. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who won his party (PDP) primaries unopposed, got re-elected for office, Choosing Hon Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo as his deputy.

The 2015 Enugu State gubernatorial election was the 6th gubernatorial election of Enugu State. on April 11, 2015, the People's Democratic Party nominee Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi won the election, defeating Okey Ezea of the All Progressives Congress.

The 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election took place on 18th March 2023, to elect the Governor of Enugu State, concurrent with elections to the Enugu State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Enugu State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
