Enugu is the capital city of Enugu State in Nigeria. It is located in southeastern part of Nigeria. The city had a population of 820,000 according to the last Nigerian census. The name Enugu is derived from the two Igbo words Énú Ụ́gwụ́, meaning "hill top", denoting the city's hilly geography. Enugu acquired township status in 1917 and was called Enugwu-Ngwo, but because of the rapid expansion towards areas owned by other indigenous communities, the city was renamed Enugu in 1928.

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is a university in Nigeria that was founded as Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) on 30 July 1980, by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo. The creation of Enugu State out of Anambra State in 1991 by the then Military President General Ibrahim Gbadamasi Babangida, transformed ASUTECH into Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Chimaroke Nnamani is a medical doctor and Nigerian politician from Enugu State. He was elected Governor of Enugu State in the 1999 Enugu State gubernatorial election from 1999 to 2007. He subsequently served as a People's Democratic Party (PDP) Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2019.

The LGA is made up of four main district areas Amaigbo Lane, Onuato, Umunevo and Ihenwuzi. Enugu North is one of the seventeen local governments in Enugu state and also one of the three LGA's that made up the Enugu Town - plus Enugu East and Enugu South.

Nike Community, in Enugu East, Enugu State Nigeria. It has borders with Nsukka, Ebonyi and Enugu North and is one of the state's largest zones, featuring several tourist sites and commercial areas, including Nikelake Hotels. The community is under the monarchical leadership of HRM, IGWE. NNAJI. The region comprises 24 villages. They are subject to the authority of Enugu East of Enugu state, Nigeria.
Nru Nsukka is a suburb located in Nsukka town. Nru Nsukka is one of the former old three autonomous communities: Mkpunanor, Nru and Ihe n'Owerre that made up the Nsukka urban area. Nru Nsukka having been upgraded to a suburban area was split into three newer autonomous communities with newly installed traditional rulers. Since 2018, the suburb is now made up of Iheagu Nru autonomous community with its traditional ruler as Sylvanus Arumah, Ezema ne Edem autonomous community with its traditional ruler as Linus.O. Akiyi is an autonomous community in Umulokpa, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area (LGA), Enugu State, Nigeria. It has Seven (7) villages namely: Enugwu, Enugwu-Uwani, Imama, Nkwelle, Ukpali, Uwani and Uwenu.
Neke is a town located in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State in South Eastern Nigeria. Bordered by towns such as Nike, Ikem, Mbu, Eha Amufu, Obollo and UmuAlor, Neke is a small town with a strong backbone. In the pre-colonial era, the people of Neke were known as fearsome warriors who had an economic stronghold on neighboring areas. In the present day, there are 5 main districts located in Neke namely; Ishienu, Akpani, ObeguAba, Umugwu and Umuegwu. These districts represent villages made up of clans and kindred prominent to the town's social structure.
The 2019 Enugu State gubernatorial election was held on 9 March 2019. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who won his party (PDP) primaries unopposed, got re-elected for office, Choosing Hon Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo as his deputy.
The 2015 Enugu State gubernatorial election was the 6th gubernatorial election of Enugu State. on April 11, 2015, the People's Democratic Party nominee Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi won the election, defeating Okey Ezea of the All Progressives Congress.
The 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election took place on 18th March 2023, to elect the Governor of Enugu State, concurrent with elections to the Enugu State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Enugu State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
