One Day You Will Understand is the first EP by Nigerian singer Mr Eazi. Instead of being credited as a Mr Eazi release, it is credited to Mr Eazi and music company emPawa Africa. Released exclusively through emPawa Africa, the project features guest appearances from King Promise and C Natty. Production was handled by GuiltyBeatz, Blaq Jerzee, Nonso Amadi and Legendury Beatz. One Day You Will Understand serves as the follow-up to Life Is Eazi, Vol. 2 – Lagos to London (2018).
In an interview with Apple Music, Mr Eazi reflected on how the peaceful environment of his lakeside home inspired One Day You Will Understand. He described waking up to tranquil views of the lake, which profoundly influenced the project's tone. "Just that calm energy," he explained, mentioning how it translated into the music. The cover art for the EP, according to him, was captured spontaneously on his iPhone, as he was feeling relaxed, soaking in the atmosphere. Mr Eazi also shared that he intended to release several more projects throughout the year, blending solo tracks with collaborations, and incorporating a variety of musical styles, including Spanish and dancehall influences. [2]
The EP's only single "I No Go Give Up On You" was released on 22 May 2020. The song was produced by Blaq Jerzee and its release coincided with its animated visualizer. [3]
Motolani Alake of Pulse Nigeria praised One Day You Will Understand for its romantic themes and songwriting, likening it to "words written down and placed in a time capsule" that evoke the innocence of teenage love. He rated the EP 7.5 out of 10, calling it "an amazing experience" with "very little flaws by thought or execution." [4]
Emmanuel Esomnofu, writing a review for NotJustOk described One Day You Will Understand as a concise four-track project that revisits Mr Eazi's recurring theme of romance, highlighting tracks like "Baby I'm Jealous" and "I No Go Give Up On You." He noted the EP's "warm" sound and its exploration of love, adding that it feels like "an appetizer" for more comprehensive future projects. [5]
