The Embassy of the State of Palestine to the United Kingdom in London is the diplomatic mission of the State of Palestine in the United Kingdom. The embassy is located in Hammersmith, west London.
On 21 September 2025, the United Kingdom formally recognised [1] [2] the State of Palestine, enabling the former Palestinian Mission to be upgraded to full embassy status. A flag-raising ceremony was held on 22 September 2025 [3] [4] [5] [6] , with Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot declaring: "We don't have a mission now, we have an embassy; we don't have a mission head, we have an ambassador."
The recognition means Palestine enjoys full diplomatic rights, and its mission formally became an embassy with protections and privileges under the Vienna Convention. This decision came more than 100 years after the Balfour Declaration and 77 years after the creation of Israel in the British Mandate of Palestine.
Palestine was initially represented in London by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) through a delegation. In 2011, Foreign Secretary William Hague upgraded the delegation to mission status. Following the UK's formal recognition of the State of Palestine on 21 September 2025, the mission was elevated to embassy status. UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed that the Palestinian Authority could now "set up an embassy and an ambassador in the UK."
