The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Peru is the higher diplomatic representation of the State of Palestine in Peru. Since 2015, the embassy is located in San Isidro, Lima; the current ambassador of Palestine to Peru is Walid Muaqqat.
Peru does not have a representation in Ramallah or any other city in Palestine, although former president Pedro Castillo announced the intention of the country to open an embassy in 2022. [2] [3]
The first Palestinian representation in Peru opened in 1979, under the left-leaning Revolutionary Government of the Armed Forces of Peru, as the office of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which at the time had no diplomatic status. [4]
In 1998, an agreement to host a Special Delegation of the PLO was signed, and in 2000, Javier Pérez de Cuéllar raised the level of the delegation with all the privileges granted to countries in embassies accredited in Peru, making the delegation a de facto embassy. [4] Ollanta Humala later officially recognised the State of Palestine on January 24, 2011. [5]
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine in Peru (Arabic : سفير دولة فلسطين لدى البيرو; Spanish : Embajador Extraordinario y Plenipotenciario del Estado de Palestina en el Perú) is the foremost representative of the Palestinian government to the Government of Peru.

Former President Alberto Fujimori's tainted re-election to a third term in June 2000 strained Peru's relations with the United States and with many Latin American and European countries, mainly small countries like Yemen but relations improved with the installation of an interim government in November 2000 and the inauguration of Alejandro Toledo in July 2001.
Mexico–Palestine relations are the diplomatic relations between the United Mexican States and the State of Palestine. Both nations are members of UNESCO.
Palestine–Peru relations are bilateral relations between the State of Palestine and Peru. Peru recognized Palestine as a sovereign state on 24 January 2011. Both nations are members of the Non-Aligned Movement. Palestine has an embassy in Lima.

Walid Ibrahim Muaqqat is a Palestinian politician and diplomat, currently serving as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Peru since 2015. He previously represented his country in Argentina, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador and Uruguay, either on behalf of the State of Palestine, the Palestinian National Authority or the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
After five years as the PLO's official representative in Peru, Issam Besseiso, is leaving to assume a similar position in Sofia, Bulgaria. His replacement, Bassim Abd-El-Rajman, a member of Al-Fatah, was in Karachi until February, 1984 when he and three other PLO leaders were expelled by the Pakistani government for "activities against the State." An editorial printed in the Peruvian daily "Expreso" in April called upon the government to close down the PLO office which it labeled "an embassy for terrorism." "Expreso" sees Besseiso's move to Bulgaria, "the major sanctuary of international terrorism", as a career promotion. At a farewell party for Besseiso, Peruvian Congressman Miguel Angel Mufarech commended him on his efficient work in Peru which allowed the Peruvians to "learn of the fight against international Zionism." Lima's mayor Alfonso Barrentes Lingan, at that party, called for victory to the Palestinian people. [sic]
