Papua New Guinean cricket team in Oman in 2021–22

The Papua New Guinea cricket team toured Oman in September 2021 to play two One Day International (ODI) matches against Nepal and two ODI matches against the United States. [1] [2] The matches were used as preparation for all three teams ahead of the Cricket World Cup League 2 series, also in Oman, which started on 13 September 2021 and 25 September 2021 respectively. In the first round of matches, the United States beat Papua New Guinea by seven wickets, [5] with Nepal beating Papua New Guinea by two wickets in the second match. [6] The United States won their second match against Papua New Guinea by 134 runs, with Jaskaran Malhotra scoring the first century for the United States in an ODI match. [7] The final match saw Nepal beat Papua New Guinea by 151 runs, [8] leaving Papua New Guinea winless across all four matches. [9]

Papua New Guinea lost both their ODI and T20I status in March 2018 after losing a playoff match against Nepal during the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, a result that earned ODI and T20I status for their opponents. On 26 April 2019, at the final World Cricket League 2 fixture; PNG defeated Oman to finish at the fourth position and reclaim their ODI status.

Gajanand Singh is a West Indian cricketer who played in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. He has played first-class and List A cricket for Guyana. He made his Twenty20 debut for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League on 6 August 2017.

2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier

The 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier was played in early 2012 as a part of ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series. This edition of the qualifier for the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 was an expanded version comprising ten qualifiers from regional Twenty20 tournaments, in addition to the six ODI/Twenty20 status countries. It was staged in the UAE.

2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Cricket tournament

The 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, for the 2016 World Twenty20, was held from 6 to 26 July 2015. The tournament was hosted by both Ireland and Scotland. 51 matches were played among 14 nations, down from 72 matches among 16 nations previously. The tournament formed part of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series, with the top six teams going forward to the qualifying round of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.

The Hong Kong cricket team and Papua New Guinea cricket team toured Australia from 8 to 13 November 2014, playing two One Day Internationals (ODI) and a three-day match. It was the first ODI matches to be played by Papua New Guinea since gaining ODI status by the International Cricket Council. Papua New Guinea won the ODI series 2–0.

2015–2017 ICC World Cricket League Championship International cricket tournament

The 2015–2017 ICC World Cricket League Championship was the second edition of the ICC World Cricket League Championship. It took place from 2015 until 2017, in parallel with the 2015-17 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Both Ireland and Afghanistan had been promoted to the main ICC ODI Championship and did not compete in this tournament. Instead, Kenya and Nepal were included in the tournament. The tournament was played in a round-robin format. All matches were recorded as List A matches, and those in which both teams had ODI status were also recorded as ODIs.

2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Cricket tournament

The 2018 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place during March 2018 in Zimbabwe. It formed the final part of the Cricket World Cup qualification process for the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. The top two teams, Afghanistan and the West Indies, qualified for the World Cup, joining the hosts and the seven teams who had already qualified through their ranking in the ICC ODI Championship. Afghanistan won the tournament, beating the West Indies by 7 wickets in the final. Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad was named the player of the match and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza was named the player of the tournament.

Maxwell Patrick "Max" O'Dowd is a Dutch international cricketer who made his debut for the Dutch national side in June 2015. In the North Sea Pro Series, he has played for the Northern Hurricanes. O'Dowd made his Twenty20 International debut for the Netherlands against Nepal on 1 July 2015.

Jaskaran Malhotra is an American cricketer. He has played for the United States cricket team since January 2018, and made his full international debut for the side in March 2019.

The 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two was an international cricket tournament that took place in April 2019 in Namibia. It was contested between six teams; Canada, Hong Kong, Oman, Papua New Guinea, the United States and tournament hosts Namibia. It formed part of the 2017–19 cycle of the World Cricket League (WCL) which determined the qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The final and third-place playoff match were granted One Day International (ODI) status by the International Cricket Council. Namibia won the tournament, after they beat Oman by 145 runs in the final. It was Namibia's first win in an ODI match, and it was the first ever ODI match played by Oman.

The 2019 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier was an international women's cricket tournament that was held in August and September 2019 in Scotland. It was the fourth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and was the qualification tournament for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament. The top two teams from the qualifier tournament progressed to the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia. In June 2019, Cricket Scotland confirmed the tournament dates, format and venues. The full schedule was confirmed on 8 August 2019.

The 2019 Scotland Tri-Nation Series was the first round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament and took place in Scotland in August 2019. It was a tri-nation series between Oman, Papua New Guinea and the Scotland cricket teams, with the matches played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. After the series, Scotland were at the top of the points table, after finishing ahead of Oman on net run rate, with both teams level on points.

The 2019 United States Tri-Nation Series was the second round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament and took place in the United States in September 2019. It was a tri-nation series between Namibia, Papua New Guinea and the United States cricket teams, with the matches played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. It was the first One Day International series to be played in the USA.

The 2021 Oman Tri-Nation Series was the 6th round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament which was played in Oman in September 2021. It was a tri-nation series between Nepal, Oman and the United States cricket teams, with the matches played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Kushal Bhurtel is a Nepalese cricketer. In November 2019, he was named in Nepal's squad for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh. He made his List A debut for Nepal, against India, in the Emerging Teams Cup on 14 November 2019. Prior to his List A debut, he was named in Nepal's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Later the same month, he was also named in Nepal's squad for the men's cricket tournament at the 2019 South Asian Games. The Nepalese team won the bronze medal, after they beat the Maldives by five wickets in the third-place playoff match.

Bikram Sob is a Nepalese cricketer. In August 2021, he was named in Nepal's One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Papua New Guinea in Oman, and their squad for round six of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament, also in Oman. He made his ODI debut on 7 September 2021, for Nepal against Papua New Guinea, and took a wicket with his first ball in an ODI match.

Sushant Jayachandra Modani is an Indian cricketer who plays for the United States cricket team. In June 2021, he was selected to take part in the Minor League Cricket tournament in the United States following the players' draft. In August 2021, Modani was named in the United States' One Day International (ODI) squad for the rescheduled tri-series in Oman and their matches against Papua New Guinea. He made his ODI debut on 6 September 2021, for the United States against Papua New Guinea.

Abhishek Paradkar is an American cricketer who plays for the United States cricket team. In June 2021, he was selected to take part in the Minor League Cricket tournament in the United States following the players' draft. In August 2021, Paradkar was named in the United States' One Day International (ODI) squad for the rescheduled tri-series in Oman and their matches against Papua New Guinea.
