The New Zealand cricket team toured Bangladesh in September 2021 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] [2] The matches were used as preparation ahead of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [3] [4] Initially, New Zealand were scheduled to play three T20I matches, but in May 2021, two more matches were added to the schedule. [5] The schedule for the tour was confirmed in August 2021. Tom Latham was named as New Zealand's captain, with Kane Williamson being unavailable due to him playing in the rescheduled phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League. [8] A warm-up match for the New Zealand team at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan in Savar was scheduled to take place, but was later cancelled. [9] The New Zealand team arrived in Bangladesh on 24 August 2021. [10]

Bangladesh won the first match of the series by seven wickets, to record their first win against New Zealand in T20I cricket. [11] Bangladesh then won the second T20I by four runs, [12] with New Zealand winning the third match by 52 runs. [13] Bangladesh won the fourth T20I by six wickets to record their first T20I series win against New Zealand. [14] New Zealand won the fifth and final T20I match by 27 runs, with Bangladesh winning the series 3–2. [15]

Upon the team's arrival in Bangladesh, New Zealand's Finn Allen tested positive for COVID-19. [18] No immediate decision was made regarding the need for a replacement for Allen, [19] with Matt Henry named as cover for Allen three days later. [20] Following the first T20I, Allen returned to the New Zealand bubble, after providing two negative tests. [21]

Mahmudullah Bangladeshi cricketer

Mohammad Mahmudullah, also known as Riyad, is a Bangladeshi cricketer and the current T20I captain. He has played First-class and List A cricket for Dhaka Division and has represented Bangladesh in all forms of the game. An all-rounder, he is a lower or middle-order batsman as well as an off spin bowler. He is prominent for his ability to finish a close limited over game. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in October 2020, ahead of the then scheduled ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In August 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the tour was going ahead, and were working with their government to comply with biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. On 29 September 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed the schedule against Bangladesh. The ODI matches formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured Bangladesh in May 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. All of the matches took place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The ODI series would have formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The T20I matches would have been used as preparation for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. However, in August 2021, the tour was postponed to allow England players to take part in the rescheduled phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League.

The New Zealand cricket team are scheduled to tour Pakistan in September and October 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series will form part of the inaugural 2020–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. It will be New Zealand's first tour of Pakistan since 2003.

The Australia cricket team toured Bangladesh in August 2021 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The matches were used as preparation ahead of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Cricket Australia planned for the series to take place following their tour of the West Indies. It was the first bilateral T20I series between the two teams, and Australia's first tour of Bangladesh since 2017.

The 2020–21 National Cricket League is the twenty-second edition of the National Cricket League (NCL), a first-class cricket competition that is being held in Bangladesh. The tournament started on 22 March 2021, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) using the tournament as preparation for Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka in April 2021. The eight teams taking part were placed into two tiers, with the tournament scheduled to end on 29 April 2021. Khulna Division are the defending champions.

Mrittunjoy Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi cricketer. Chowdhury was part of Bangladesh's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, although he was later ruled out of the tournament with an injury. Due to his injury, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sent Chowdhury to Australia for surgery.

The 2021 Bangladeshi cricket season is taking place from 20 January to 31 December 2021. A total of 29 international matches, including 4 Test, 9 One Day International and 16 Twenty20 International matches are scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in 2021. 72 first-class, 5 List A and 54 Twenty20 matches are also being held in this season. All the international matches will form part of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship, 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship and the preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
